iPhone app developer says MMOs will be abandoned {Massively}

Jan 23rd 2011 3:28AM Am I the only one who senses deep sarcasm in every word he said? I think he was jsut trying to be funny. If you read everything he says and give it its opposite meaning, it makes total sense. :p

RIFT challenges unwritten rules of the genre in a new dev diary {Massively}

Jan 7th 2011 3:21PM @Dril
I kinda agree, every time I see their vids wehre "well known guild leaders" talk about how REVOLUTIONARY the game is, how it blows everything in the MMO market right out of the water... I get douche chills.

Fon get me wrong, there is a LOT to like in RIFT, but Jesus, who are these comments, videos and retarded marketing ploys targeted to? IT must be the casual gamers, casue anyone with even a little knowledge of the MMO genre knows they are talking out of their asses.

The Mog Log: The year that was {Massively}

Jan 2nd 2011 8:55AM With all the great releases coming this year in the MMO world, I doubt I'll have time to give FF14 a second chance. All the best of luck to its supporters, though, may you get the game you always dreamed of.

Five MMOs that have gone MIA {Massively}

Dec 31st 2010 4:10PM @darzin

Otherland, the book series by Tad Williams, predates .hack.

I read it all, high on the quite enoyable Memory, Sorrow and Thorn series. Otherland was not so good. No big loss if this MMO doesnt make it.

The Daily Grind: What are your MMO resolutions for 2011? {Massively}

Dec 28th 2010 8:46AM @Omali

QFT. IT seems these days, unless you are purchasing a game from Turbine or Blizzard, being an early adopter is punished with buggy, incomplete games. MY resolution is to wait a month (or a Steam sale) to try new MMOs, its not as if they are going anywhere. Im looking forward to Rift, GW2 and Tera, but Ill wait a month or more before trying them, till the dust and growing pains of a launch has settled. Well, maybe not GW2, I do wanna try that day 1.

Damn, this resolution is going to be hard to keep. :p

Final Fantasy XIV brings in the item search with the last update of the year {Massively}

Dec 22nd 2010 3:43AM A bandaid patch for a hemorrhaging game. Its fascinating, in a way, like watching a trainwreck in slow motion. Good stuff.

Final Fantasy XIV's update dated and expanded {Massively}

Dec 15th 2010 3:39AM @Betel

It may count for something but for most people it will not be enough. Fans of the franchise, I suspect, are the only ones easy to forgive mistakes of the past, but the simple truth is that they have known the terrible state the game was in since beta. Devs chose to ignore, let alone communicate with the betatesting community, and despite cries of desperation that the game was nowhere near polished enough for release, knowing this full well Square Enix decided to push it out of the gate 2 months before the big C to capitalize on impulse purchases from brand recognition and fans of the franchise alone.

Other MMOs may not have admitted their mistakes so openly, but lets be honest here - even at its worst state, nothing comes close to the colossal blunder that was made with FFXIV. We will see if future patches will address the issues that plague the game, but as one reviewer said, "Fun" isnt something you can just patch into a game, and that is what it is missing most at the moment.

Final Fantasy XIV launches another notorious preview {Massively}

Dec 8th 2010 5:46AM Looking forward to the PS3 reviews next year, see if the extra 6 months did much to de-suckify the game. Then again, considering hw much was wrong with it in the first place, I think they'd need at least 3 more years to fix it.

No reason at all to paly this now while theres glorious, engaging new questing to be done in WoW... unless you really like catgirls. :p

The Daily Grind: Are you playing Cataclysm? {Massively}

Dec 7th 2010 8:51AM I was there at midnight for the server disconnect madness. An hour later, I was levelling up my mining and herbing while people were murdering each other for quest mobs. Paid off too, sold 16 stacks of elementium overnight for 7k gold. :3

Due to the hughe boom in new ore and herb prices, Im gonna go get me some more, and maybe sometime later tonight Ill finally get to some questing. So far, flying around Azeroth is pretty awesome and of the new zones, the two I've seen on my mining and herbing routes, are pretty damn impressive.

New Fallout Online newsletter sighted in the wild {Massively}

Nov 20th 2010 8:46PM You are nuts, if anything the PC version is the msot stable of the lot, considering it didnt suffer from nearly as many freezes, crashes and broken questlines as the console versions did.

Does it have bugs and issues? Absolutely, but it is still one of the best RPGs to come out in 2010, adn the fact people love it and play it despite the numerous bugs it has, is a testament to how great a game it is.
