Mar 26th 2010 8:09PM I can promise you all, Tarren Mill was unplayable during prime time for about a month shortly after LK was available. The server would crash every fifteen minutes between about 20.00 and 23.00 server time. Maybe Ensidia got around it by moving raid times to earlier in the day or fri/sat (when the server was more stable), but I can't blame them for transferring. The only thing stopping my guild from doing it was that we weren't going to pay blizzard for a realm transfer when it's their shitty hardware that was making all the problems.
Having said that, congratulations to Paragon on the world first! Wether it's in pro sports or raiding it's all too easy to blame failure on external circumstances, but what matters is who gets their first, and that was Paragon.
Mar 17th 2010 4:24AM What's with the hatred of the tab key? I always tabtarget when tanking packs, no matter if I'm tanking on my 80 geared paladin, my 80 not-so-geared bear or when I was levelling my prot warrior. It's just a good tanking practice.
Now, if you're worried about dps pulling single targets off you, mark a skull (they'll mostly be aoeing/cleaving, so you still need to tab around). After the dps ignores the skull, as they will, and pull another mob off you, then you can really start to bitch. And don't tell them to assist your target, if you're a good tank you should be changing targets all the time. If you want one mob dead, mark it.

Mar 1st 2010 6:22PM I thought the point was that the stats that resto and balance/ele currently do not share, mana regen and hit, would become interchangeable exactly so that a dual specced resto/other could use his exact same gear (maybe swap a few things around to hit the hit cap)

You identify these parts of the fight (where tank death is a real risk), and you gear so that your EH is high enough to survive these bursts. Avoidance can save you from a lot of these situations (but not from Gormok), but if you rely on avoidance there's always a chance you don't dodge enough and you will die before the healers can react.

It's primarily about finding a way to correctly value armor for EH purposes. It provides a formula for new EH that includes the factors health, armor, talented mitigation of physical damage, talented mitigation of magical damage, resistance and magic and bleed damage as a percentage of the total damage (in the burst situation you are gearing for, like an impale hit + impale tick + melee hit).
It also includes comments about how to use the number you get from the calculation.

Jun 17th 2009 3:51AM You don't know the value of the alchemy arena flask. I'm 99% certain that the values it gives will be exactly the same as the bonus other professions get, so you won't lose OR gain anything from having alchemy in arena. Expect something like 40 str/80 ap/48 sp.
Apr 26th 2009 7:24PM I just checked Guild Ox to see what hard modes were still unbeaten, and as far as I can see *at least* Yogg, Mimiron and even XT-002 appears to be still be unbeaten on hc-hard mode, in addition to Algalon of course. Hardcore guilds have now had an entire lockout to clear it on normal and then 5 days this week to work on hard modes, without patch day instability issues. Ulduar too easy? I can't really see how it can be harder.
KJ only lasted, what, 4 days? And that was the endboss of the entire expansion.
