Activists target SWTOR's future same-gender romances {Massively}

Jan 27th 2012 6:47PM @(Unverified)

Because we leave things related to equality to the whim of the masses? That has never and will never work. If it we left it up to the majority to decide what was and was not equality in our country we would still have jim crow laws, women would not have the right to vote and many many other forms of disfranchisement in this country.

People should have the right to say what they want. What they should not have the right to do is take rights from others.

The Soapbox: On MMO negativity {Massively}

Jan 17th 2012 3:55PM The problem is that games just like movies and any other form of popular enetertainment are made to make money. As such they will always go after the largest target demographic that they can in order to make the most profit.

That means that the smaller demographics that enjoy sandbox and those game-play elements get left behind.

Its simply math.

Now there are exceptions to the rule, yet they are mostly indie games(A Tale in the Desert) or they are games that have a entrenched player-base(EVE).

Major games publishers will never try and make a game that does not have a large enough target demographic anymore. That is a thing of the past. Unless you can get major funding as a indie developer then you are forced toward the path of least resistance and most subscribers as a developers.

Now I understand what you enjoy and what many of the people who like to trash the current gen of MMO's enjoy. But there is no magical hidden majority of sandbox lovers or old school MMO players. The current populations of players that play and enjoy the current generation of content far exceeds the total number of players that played UO, DoAC, EQ, AO, and SWG all rolled together in their prime with their largest total subbed user base.

That is simply the truth, yet rather than see that the market has moved away from what you enjoy you act like its a trend that will go away. Its not going to go away. It is here to stay so either you adapt or you will continue to hate the genre you profess to love so much.

The Soapbox: Adding story to SWTOR {Massively}

Dec 27th 2011 12:39PM @valdi313

One just has to look at Jef's post history on SWTOR to know his opinion. He is a sandboxer, and really needs to stick with those games. Every single time he writes on any theme park game, his writing simply comes off as peevish and narrow-minded.

Jef since you obviously can not separate your feelings for a entire genre(themepark MMO's) why don't you simply write only about the stuff you like(sandbox MMO's). You would draw far less criticism from the readers of Massively. Unless this is your ego trolling the readers of Massively and if that is the case, well you have issues.

Behind the Mask: Semper Fidelis {Massively}

As are all Army personnel. You have to qualify every 6 months in the Army no matter what your MOS is. If it is some form of combat arms though, you have to qualify with much more than just the M-4/M-16. Grenades, Pistols, and more.

Behind the Mask: Semper Fidelis {Massively}

Feb 17th 2011 3:33PM Since you obviously have no clue, the Army Infantryman has a 16 week OSUT. Not a 8 week basic training.

A Game of Thrones screens are light on actual thrones, but rich in dragons {Joystiq}

Feb 17th 2011 2:26PM @The Albatross

If this is set 250 years before the books then there would indeed be huge dragons 3 of them to be exact. The largest was Balerion the Black Dread. Aegon I the Conqueror claimed all of Westeros with them.

Balerion, Vhagar, and Meraxes were his dragons. Also the same dragons that melted the stone walls of Harrenhal.

Trion announces next RIFT beta event, showcasing warfronts {Massively}

Jan 3rd 2011 10:27AM doubtful since there is a PvP soul for each class. So if any nerfting goes on it will be on the PvP souls.
