Mar 26th 2009 2:34PM Yeah!
Let's not make them go the route everyone else goes that costs a billion ISK and resets the timer on how long they've owned space, with the benefits that come with it.
It's just a name! And a ton of money! And SoV benefits!
Amazing how knowledge can color an argument.
Also, article is wrong in a one significant detail. Band of Brothers didn't reform under a new name. KenZoku had been around for months already, they just joined an existing alliance, then tried to have that alliance name changed. If they had actually created a new alliance they could have chosen any name they wanted, but of course they'd also have to pay the 1 billion credits.
Jan 29th 2009 1:47PM If you life tap low enough during a progression fight that a healer burns a GCD on you, that's a risk to the success of the encounter. How much a risk depends on the group, but once we have challenging fights in the game, I'm not wasting a cooldown healing a lock unless the tank is at 100% life.
You can take a chain heal bounce if you're lucky and close enough.
I have no problem healing locks between fights. I have enough MP5 that I don't even notice. Locks who burn themselves down to 50% or less during a boss fight don't get heals from me. And when they die due to unlucky fight mechanic timing I just laugh at them.
Jan 29th 2009 1:39PM "input = purple frame dropping health. does not have aggro... conclusion=LIFETAP!"
Hope it's not a KT iceblock or Maexna web wrap. Or marks on 4 Horsemen in the back. Or too low for Loatheb's bloom. Or gets chosen by Malygo's missiles.
Nice try oversimplifying things though.
Jan 29th 2009 1:29PM You can't only heal people who have agro. There are too many boss abilities that don't require boss agro that WILL kill a single target. Off the top of my head, KT's ice block, Maexna's web. Those fights teach healers to throw heals on people below 50% regardless of whether they have agro or not.
Even without those abilities you have timed AE's that cause lots of raidwide damage, requiring everyone stay fairly topped off.
The two responses saying to watch agro are just fail.
Dec 17th 2008 10:58AM You're calling them out for taking things too seriously after ranting about their definition of "civilian"?
Dec 11th 2008 10:45AM Congratulations, Squishy, you know T-SQL 101. Have a cookie.
Now imagine that faction is in one table out of 50. That achievements are in another. Mounts are in yet another. And all of them have meaningful foreign key constraints, are merged into multiple views, referenced in multiple stored procedures.
Even if Blizzard is using some bizzare table with thousands of fields, there is no way for any of us to know what assumptions are being made in the game or server client code.
As a programmer, I know not to assume anything about software. I wouldn't assume it's easy to change the color of a pong paddle from white to yellow unless I saw the code, I'm sure not going to assume it's easy to change faction in a piece of software as complex as an MMO.
Nov 19th 2008 2:51PM Thanks for confirming you have no idea what you're talking about when it comes to Elemental Shaman abilities.
Nov 19th 2008 2:44PM "Chain lightning, Fire Nova and Thunderstorm? What is an elemental shaman to do?"
Chain Lightning has a 6 second (4.5 second with talents) cooldown and hits three whole targets, diminishing 30% each time. Thunderstorm has a 45 second cooldown and knocks everything back, making it counterproductive when there's a real AE class present.
Fire Nova totem has a 15 second cooldown, and a 4 second delay (2 seconds with talent). The problem is that just dropping it creates threat. So if you drop it at the start it is often targeted and killed. If you wait, it often goes off after everything is dead.
In short, you don't know nearly enough about Shaman abilities to post an effective response, especially with one line that doesn't even mention Magma Totem, which is probably our most effective AE, even if it does suffer from the same threat issues as Fire Nova. At least with Magma you can wait a second or two, drop it, and have it pulse once before everything dies.
That said, I'm not convinced Shaman *NEED* AE. But your uninformed response needs to be responded to.
Nov 6th 2008 2:39PM You're either bugged or spent your talent points really poorly. With a 51/10 build and mostly T4 gear my LB's are hitting for over 1K.
Elemental got buffed in patch 3.0. Not nearly as much as Boomkin or Arcane mages, and scaling is bad, but it was still a DPS increase patch for Elemental.
