The Queue: Predicting the Cataclysm release date {WoW}

Sep 2nd 2010 11:39AM You don't need to buy anything to see the new Azeroth. Everyone gets the changes to the world, expansion or not. Just not the new race zones or the 80+ zones.

Breakfast Topic: Does gender influence class choice? {WoW}

Aug 27th 2010 9:10AM Female, started as a warlock in vanilla because I wanted to wear a dress. Seriously.
In BC I played a holy paladin but hated every second of it. Now I play ret and pretty much love smashing things.
I typically recommend casters to new players regardless of gender if they don't have any experience with games. Perhaps the caster/female preference exists because women may be more likely to not have previous gaming experience and playing a caster doesn't require getting on top of mobs and maneuvering that way. Range is more forgiving.

The Light and How to Swing It: On gap-closers and empty GCDs {WoW}

Aug 25th 2010 10:44PM Not button mashing definitely feels foreign and I thought it was a huge flaw at first. But I'm beginning to like that it opens up the possibility of using word of glory on party members and otherwise actually filling a more hybrid role. In the current model we lose significant dps doing this, here we won't be punished so thoroughly for it.

Long arm of the law is so. much. fun. Completely satisfying.

Win a 10-Man Raid eyeshadow set from Geek Chic Cosmetics! {WoW}

Aug 17th 2010 2:42PM Real life female.

Breakfast Topic: The best class choice for new players {WoW}

Aug 8th 2010 8:31AM My first class was a warlock. I wanted to wear a dress. Yes I sucked at first, but by level 40 or so I got a hang of drain tanking. I enjoyed the juggling though.

I don't really like to recommend melee classes to new players just because they're trickier to play than range, I think.

WoW Rookie: Loremaster, a completist's dream {WoW}

Aug 5th 2010 2:45PM I have 2 quests left to finish the achievement (if you have any Blade's Edge tips...that'd be nice) and only downloaded Everyquest when I had 40 quests left in Kalimdor and EK had been completed. Super nice to have, but you can do it without addons if you're organized.

Now.. back to farming apexis shards, sigh.

Breakfast Topic: Take this job and shove it {WoW}

Jul 11th 2010 8:58AM I dropped my maxed mining skill for blacksmithing, to pair with jewelcrafting. Some of my more industrious auction friends pull it off, but oh my, I can't.

I still get sad when I pass a titanium or thorium vein..

The Failure of Secrecy: The alpha, leaks, and the WoW community {WoW}

May 7th 2010 3:10PM I think you're missing the point that this is F&F. This isn't a strictly internal alpha, which is more in line with what you described above. It's slightly public.

I've seen F&F alphas before and the screenshots of Cata I've seen are incredibly polished compared to say, BC. Like zone maps were whiteboards. Believe me, this is a very short precursor to closed beta.

The Failure of Secrecy: The alpha, leaks, and the WoW community {WoW}

May 7th 2010 2:55PM It's my turn to be condescending I guess: do you realize that the betas also lack polish? Do you realize how many abilities, models, textures were changed between beta and release for WOTLK? And all of that info was public on the beta forum? F&F Alpha is a short precursor to the closed beta.

Also, get a grip.

The Failure of Secrecy: The alpha, leaks, and the WoW community {WoW}

May 7th 2010 2:46PM I don't really understand why there is any outrage. All of this would flood out with the beta anyways. If you don't want to know anything, don't visit MMO. It should be pretty clear by now that he releases unreleased info.
