Player blasts free from overweight gamer stereotype {WoW}

Dec 2nd 2011 5:20PM This guy played a pretty mean resto shaman for our raids. Being a fellow guildie and living in the same city, I've actually have gotten to meet him in RL in 3 different occasisions. And man...has he changed a lot in between.

Kudos to you Jon

Pulling aggro in PUGs: who's to blame {WoW}

Jan 15th 2010 2:30PM I've leveled my paladin from 1 to 80 as prot. My first toon I've ever made. It's not an easy task. It's not like I make angry faces at mobs and they come to me and stay on me. Being a tank means LEARNING (because we all knew how to tank when we first installed WoW amirite?) the critical aspect of your role. That's KEEP EVERYONE ALIVE. Sure there are retards out there that truly deserve not to get saved by you, but if you are a tank, that is your primary objective in the group.

I've gotten my 2nd toon (huntard) to 72 now, mostly by using the dungeon finder tool. Sure I was using full heirlooms and somewhat understood my rotation. I could easily pull off the tank. But that doesn't mean I start yelling at them telling them they're the biggest noob and should l2tank and start lying about my fake lvl 80 tank that could of tanked HPoS when he was lvl 30 better then them.

When I pull off a tank, I do the following:

1) Stop DPSing or feign death
There's a chance the tank can pick it back up if I slow down or stop my dps.

2) Concussion shot and lay down movement impairing traps
Slow down that mob before it can touch me.

3) Kite the mob back to the tank hoping he'll pick up.

But I think some players think this is the right way to go:

1) Enable caps lock
3) Continue dpsing

Now...they didn't stop dpsing so that means they have better dps/damage then me. So in conclusion, that player must be better then me amirite?

I think there's a misconception of "Bad tank, bad dps, bad healer". It's a group effort. We all can do something when aggro hits the fan. It's not all about ePeen levels. Just because you have a lvl 80 toon and have killed Arthas already, and your Gear Score (cuz GS matters when leveling rite? In fact, cuz GS matters at 80 rite?) is OVER 9000, doesn't mean the rest of your group has.

Nowadays, I run 15 min heroics and do 3.5k to 4k dps on my pally and out damage the rest of my group as a TANK. I kid you not. I can hit 4k dps. Dat means they're all nubs dat dun no how to pray game amirite? Why am I carrying scrubs in heroics who can't even hit 3k dps?! QQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQ -_-'

If players can push aside their elitist mindset, pulling aggro (even constantly) off tanks is actually pretty trivial to handle.

And to all those that hate "bad tanks" (cuz you were born with amazing tanking skills amirite?) should really STFU and make a tanking class and see it for yourse..inb4 I HAVE TANK CRASS!! I NO HAOW TO TANK NUB!

Sorry for the rant. But sometimes...both tank and dps don't know how bad they really are.

Breakfast Topic: The Moment {WoW}

Sep 16th 2009 2:19PM A have a couple.

The best by far was being new to 80 and raiding on my prot pally. After being taught Naxx 10, my guild invited me to OT OS25 for the first time. All was going well until the MT died. With Sarth facing the raid I immediately taunted and repositioned him but without a tank on adds...everyone started dying fast. It came down to a druid healer and a undead rogue. When the healer was overwhelmed, the rogue vanished leaving me alone with Sarth with 63k hp, along with a bunch of whelps. Waited the last possible minute to bubble, then smacked Sarth as hard as I could before pushing LoH. Then surviving long enough to bring that bastard down. When the healer went down, everyone else was calling a wipe. Everyone was surprised and amazed that I was able to survive through that ordeal. With that, I was invited to the guild's Naxx 25 runs and pulled a couple miracle saves in there as well. It took a lot of effort to prove my worth as a raiding tank to my guild (I was with at the time) which I didn't appreciate about getting looked down at.

Now I'm in a new guild progressing through Heroic ToC 25 as one of the regular tanks as well as backup MT when our GM can't make it to the raid. Looking back at that period of time since hitting 80 knowing it was a tough road to prove my place, it makes me smile.

OMGS4: Watch someone earn Big Boss emblem in under 3 hours {Joystiq}

Jun 26th 2008 10:58PM I've managed to do this also, but in a little over 4 hrs. Though there are some pretty nifty stuff he does, I didn't have the luxury of having the Solar Gun which saved him on non lethal ammo. There was no yelling "Sunlight!" for me.

I've also noticed he does spam that trigger button. You don't really need to tranquilize the enemy 3 times lol. Once in the head or in the body, then give it a few seconds to kick it. There was one point during the battle with Crying Wolf where he shot this one Frog like 7 times lol.
