Mar 17th 2009 10:46PM First of all I have to lol just a little at the comments about how about making something more healthy and then suggesting Vitamin Water. You guys do know that Vitamin Water and soda have the same amount of sugar right?
Just throwing that out there.
I do however agree with everyone suggesting more healthy choices. Like several people I will probably buy one for my collectible shelf but thats about that.
Feb 26th 2009 12:03PM Wow! Just wow!
I am not sure how Blizzard has managed to screw up so bad (sometimes I wonder if it is because of their "partnership" with Activision).
Let's just take a look at some of the stuff they have said versus some of the stuff they have done;
Bring the player, not the class.
-How many times have they managed to screw that one up. Just use DK's as an example and one of the largest mistakes I have seen, Ebon Plague. This bug is not a priority because they want more people to spec Frost and Blood? Doesn't that go entirely against bring the player not the class? I mean I don't know about you guys and gals but I wanted to spec Unholy as soon as I heard that was one of the DK's talent trees. And I would be specced Unholy right now if there was not a game debilitating bug with Ebon Plague.
-You want more examples? As someone mentioned how about the Priest class? It is still a necessity to bring one. And whoever said, "Priests want to tank sometimes and they should be able to." Were you being sarcastic? I mean I want to heal sometimes because that is what my guild needs in a raid. Should DK's be able to heal sometimes because they WANT to? If you were being sarcastic sorry about the attack though ;) .
Also they SAY that tier 8 raiding won't require certain classes but I can already tell you that Blizzard is full of poop. Ghostcrawler has already gone on record to say that some tanks are going to have an easier time tanking certain encounters in tier 8 raiding. You all KNOW that means that most guilds will be taking whichever tanks that make it easier EVERY time. No questions asked. It is not a matter of IF every class can tank something, it is IF they can do it as well as another class in the same position.
There are more examples of all of these things, and I think that most of us know this. The question that comes to my mind is, how do we make Blizzard see their mistakes and fix them? I mean a while back I remember reading about them asking for players to submit more feedback to help them fix things. But what happens when we do? They tell us we are dumb (in more words of course). Circling back to Death Knights now, we bring them the Ebon Plague bug and here we are coming up on the second patch with no fix for it. And for a reason that I think is fundamentally flawed. How about Dalaran? Who's idea was it to make that city so tiny and house Horde and Alliance? I mean where do I go to seriously suggest that they phase the city like they have so many zones in Northrend? And when I do suggest it will they listen?
Wow look at me go! I can rant with the best of them! Anyways just general concerns I have with patch 3.1 and of course more specifically how it affects my Death Knight and how I play it or how I am forced to play it.
Feb 10th 2009 11:43PM GOOOOOOOO!!!! Lol yay for another chance at winning stuff thanks wow insider.
Feb 10th 2009 11:42PM What do you mean they don't want you to HAVE to choose a profession? I think that not having Jewelcrafting right now is quite a hit to anyone at least for PvE. I mean the 41 stam is almost necessary for tanking, the other JC only gems are quite nice as well...And quite a large boost over the blue quality gems. I mean maybe this will subside when epic quality Northrend gems come out. I think if anything Engineering needs an upgrade. I mean it is one of the most useless professions in the game right now...Especially with the change to the Titansteel helms from Blacksmithing. It just seems to be that engineering is getting the short end of the stick ALL the time. Now I would have to say that I am sure to everyone who has whatever trade skill their's is the one that doesn't have anything good...This is just my perspective.
Feb 4th 2009 8:40PM That is a total BS answer from him. I am sorry but just saying that is helping more people spec frost and blood is against their whole "you can bring anyone of any class to a raid provided you have the basics covered (i.e. healers, tanks, dps)." I am sorry but who cares what DK's spec. With the upgrade to Killing Machine (well I consider it an upgrade) I can hold single target threat better than anyone else I run with. So I love being Frost atm. But every now and again I really do enjoy repseccing to a new flavor. I have tried Blood, Frost, and Unholy all in tank form and DPS form. I think they should have figured this bug out before patch 3.0.8 went live. I mean it seriously gimps dps of Unholy Death Knights. In my random blues, greens and rep stuff that I had back a while ago (my guild's other DK has quit since then) my DPS was decreased by at least 500-600. I think that is a game breaking bug. Who cares if people think DK's are OP or that they are the flavor of the month. It is a bug and it needs to be fixed.
Yeah I know wall of text enjoy.
Jan 18th 2009 5:02AM Well I must preface this by saying that I have used every product marketed at gamers on this planet. OK kidding lol but I have used several Logitech mice, several Microsoft mice and now this Steel Series one.
I am sorry some people are saying that they hate to hear bad things being said about this product. But they blew it. I don't know if Steel Series rushed it out, if it had to do with their acquisition of Ideazon, or they don't know how to make a mouse (I love their mouse pads fyi lol).
I FINALLY got my mouse after waiting since the release of Wrath (originally when they said it would be out). I was excited. All the buttons were about to make using a mouse to play WoW an absolute joy. It was lighter than I was used to but also had a bigger foot print. I finally got it home and got it all hooked up, downloaded the program to make it work, messed around with the keys and got it setup pretty close to where I wanted it. Before I launched the game I messed around with the 8 bajillion colors I could make the lights (yay for pretty peripherals). So I loved the way it felt. I loved the buttons. I loved the DPI.
I loved everything...Except my left button made a squeaking sound. It was rubbing against the button right next to it. Well it wasn't too bad I thought I could live with it. I was wrong. So that said the squeaking was not the only problem. The mouse lagged a little and skipped across the screen occasionally.
Finally, when I would watch a movie it would sometimes just stop working all together (I know that is not really an issue with WoW but contrary to popular belief WoW is not the only thing I use my computer for). I would have WMP at full screen to watch whatever. Then when my program was over I would have to hit esc to get WMP out of full-screen mode and the mouse would just be "dead." I would have to unplug it and plug it back in to work.
So that is about that. Sorry for the wall of text. It is early and I am tired. I ended up returning the mouse today and going back with my Logitech G9. I might end up going with that G9 upgrade (i.e. higher DPI) that comes out in a couple months but I probably won't be buying another Steel Series mouse unless I hear A LOT of reports that the problems with this mouse have been fixed. I hope my comments have helped to make the decision to buy this mouse for some people a little easier and better informed. I will check back on the comments if anyone else has any questions.
Dec 19th 2008 7:14PM I wouldn't be surprised if ATT was involved. They are the worst company for data, phones, etc. in the country. I have problems with them phone-wise, customer service-wise, etc. I also hate comcast. Kind of sucks when you don't have a choice though who to choose for internet. It is either comcast or some kind of qwest service that says they can give me 1.5 mbps...What is that stone age high speed?
Dec 16th 2008 2:34PM To be honest I never cared for PvP. But I did scrounge around BG's to grab the weapons before I started raiding in TBC. And I actually did enjoy it. But getting the same people together, around the same time every week seems kind of tedious. And I think if they are gonna gear the PvE content more towards a casual crowd, maybe they should do the same with PvP? I mean if I could get gear that was relatively good and looked really cool by spending a couple hours a week PvP'ing I would be hooked.
I don't really mean going at that pace and it taking 6 months to attain one piece of gear either (and yes that was an over-exaggeration). I mean I want to PvP at that pace for 1 or 2 weeks and have a piece of gear. i.e. PvP for 2 hours and get the bracers or the belt, one of the relatively smaller items. You spend 4 hours for two weeks and you get the chest or the shoulders, etc.
I know, I know, "QQ more noob." I get it, that would be really easy. My times that I used are mainly just an example. The number is arbitrary, I just want to be able to realistically play the game and not have to invest 100 hours a week to be competitive in a BG or Arena. And that really does to me (someone who is relatively a PvP noob) seem to be where it is going. And I think that is the key. That is a lot of casual players' perception of PvP and why I think it has slowed down considerably. Likewise is there even level 80 gear you can get by doing BG's?
Dec 8th 2008 9:58PM I just wanted to comment on the Profession short change thing. First I will preface my comment by saying I think everything but Jewelcrafting seems very unfinished and "short changed." I know that is gonna piss a lot of Jewelcrafters off, but so be it.
Next how dare you say that Engineers didn't get short changed because we "got" a motorcycle mount. Number one that mount costs 14k JUST in vendored mats. Why the hell can't we make the items that are bought from a vendor? How much did your Flying Carpet cost to make in vendored mats? I mean that dye must have set you back. Number two think about the reasons everyone picked up their professions...I am sure you can find something that is worth getting in all of them, no matter how unfinished they are. I apologize for sounding angry or passionate about the Engineering thing but it is really irritating when your profession gets screwed every patch/expansion.
I will just finish this off by commenting on the unfinished thing. Seriously look at professions...What profession looks done? Where are our instance and raid dropped recipes? Where the heck are the other Engineering goggles (not sure if maybe you only train them if you wear a certain type of armor, i.e. I got the plate ones because I am a Death Knight...If I were a Priest would I have gotten the cloth ones?)? Where are the rest of the sets for any profession. Like the Titansteel sets only have two pieces. A lot of the professions are like that, hence I think they are unfinished. So much for Blizzard releasing a finished game as they stated they did?
And hey I am sorry if I sound whiney or whatever but I do enjoy this game. It just frustrates me to no end when I see stuff that is, what I consider, poorly done.
Dec 7th 2008 3:53PM A; yes it is right 540 is uncrittable for every tank class (I have read and seen theory crafting on it countless times already). The only place this won't work is Heroic Halls of Lightning as there is a mob with a 50% crit buff that he/she self-casts.
B; what about Expertise? I didn't see any mention of that and from some of the stuff I have been reading (I would link but not sure if I am supposed to?) for a tank it is more important that Hit Rating for tanking. So for a DK tank it would be;
uncrittable -> Stamina -> dodge and parry (until you are at enough avoidance to keep Bone Shield up for a long period of time if you are Unholy) -> Expertise -> Hit rating.
Again this is just kind of the consensus that I have been getting from several reliable websites that focus on min/max and theory crafting.
Also just to point out in regards to my post that if you have more than 689 Defense Rating (which is the 540 Defense) it is not a bad thing. More defense is always gonna help heh.
And finally I would just comment that if you are just starting tanking as a Death Knight (like I am) I would focus on uncrittable then start worrying about everything else.
