Sep 26th 2010 7:30AM I am waiting on Official word from Blizz on this. I am pretty damn sure it won't be Thanksgiving week. here is why...
1. Major releases take a lot of staff to support. We aren't talking just server updates here... we are talking customer service, GM's, and lots of other support crew. They would be hosing them for a huge US holiday.
2. It would be best to release it before the holiday "rush" because it gets the word out and I know my kids work on their "wish lists" early (for the grandparents...etc). If they release that week, they would lose face time in front of purchasers.
3. I do think Amazon jumped the gun. Yes MMO Champ is normally pretty close to dead on... but I am waiting for blizz on this.
Oct 13th 2009 6:42AM ahhh love the 3 amigos reference man! woot for either item... pretty cool of ya to put em up!
Oct 1st 2009 12:56AM ohhh those are nice... pls!!!! my baby loves to yank on my current headset's cord!
Jul 21st 2009 4:28PM you know blizz is sitting back and laughing at this. They throw out something and the entire community just gobbles it up and the speculation begins! What a feeling of power they must feel! I am surprised we haven't seen a return of the Pandaren.
Dec 2nd 2008 2:51PM Considering the load these "supercomputer" servers need to handle day in and day out... I think a little downtime can be expected. 11m users is a bit more than just your average load. Even when Blizzard is making as much as they do, how much do you think they have to spend not only on costs of staffing, equipment, development... etc? Yes they make money... but they also spend a bunch as well. A little downtime is generally considered ok (and yes a few hours once a week is a little). I am an admin for my company. It is alot of work and I can only imagine how much time the patches and physical upkeep of these servers takes.. even for a team.
And btw, when it comes to specific realm issues... I also believe that with the large scale changes that came with Wrath, it is all to be expected. Just be glad you aren't down for a week or something. If the servers aren't maintained, that would likely happen due to catastrophic failures. Just chill out all you QQ'ers and read some WoWinsider or WoW Wikki. I do feel for those who did block time out to play, but frankly, Tuesdays are always a crapshoot. have a great day.
this was just my humble opinion
