Know Your Lore TFH Edition: Cataclysm Horde politics, page 3 {WoW}

May 1st 2010 12:10PM I'm getting really sick of the Garrosh bashing. It's easy for us, as players, to sit in our artificially-cooled rooms, noming on processed snacks made by other hands, and sitting in 21st century Earth and call him a "bad leader."

Heck, don't get me wrong, I'm something of a pacifist myself. I'm left-leaning, definitely anti-war in most cases. I'm influenced by the likes of Dorothy Day, Quakers, Oscar Romero, J S Woodworth, and so forth. I get that no one would elect Garrosh if he ran from president today (and not just cause he's an orc.) If a politician in my country acted like Garrosh, I'd probably be among his harshest critics.

But cripes, people, its a fantasy game! It's Warcraft. If I hear one more person objectively critique Garrosh's politics like he's actually running for head of state in a real place, I think I'm gonna blow it... Actually, nah, I'm kind of "blowing it" right now, as I've been thinking this for months but never actually expressed it.

He's a bad-ass! Whatever happened to blood and thunder, Darkspears potentially still engaging in cannibalism. The Horde are the faction who use sentient (albeit violent) beings as carpets (centaurs and ogres, anyone)? I'm not saying they're supposed to be evil, because they're not. But nor is the Horde (or the Alliance for that matter) supposed to be "acceptable" by our real world standards.

This is Azeroth. This is where the dead walk, where demons sometimes plummet from the sky, where entire cities are razed. It's dirty and filthy and violent. I mean, we've had three major wars in the span of a generation or two, and a whole slew of other conflicts besides.

Lol and I thoroughly apologize for nerdraging, but, come on.

I can agree that perhaps some of this is Blizzard's fault. I mean, Grom was just like his son, only Grom killed demigods and Pit Lords. Perhaps if Garrosh started doing some of that (or maybe if he'd actually injured Thrall fairly seriously in the duel), people would stop judging a fictional warchief with real-world values. Maybe not.

All the World's a Stage: Getting too attached to a character {WoW}

Apr 26th 2010 3:37PM I think he is a genuinely good guy, and that you should maybe send him some seductive pictures and maybe your address.

LOL, but seriously, I don't get the point of even sending this letter into Drama Mamas/RPapa... Like, isn't it obvious what Brand New RPer's response should be?

Breakfast Topic: PC voices {WoW}

Apr 6th 2010 11:05AM Oh, and I've gotta say; killing male blood elves is so satisfying. The way the clutch at the empty air for help just before they die makes me all warm and fuzzy inside.

Breakfast Topic: PC voices {WoW}

Apr 6th 2010 11:02AM Lol, the male draenei laugh makes me lose it. It's so funny to hear. I have a 70 Draenei shaman that I haven't played in forever, but I always loved doing /lol with him and hearing that psychotic belly laugh.

All the World's a Stage: Attitudes about roleplaying for the first time {WoW}

Oct 19th 2009 12:31AM I just started an alt on an RP server after wanting to try it. I'm Horde-side on Wyrmrest Accord now, and I'm loving it. My shiny new Tauren Warrior is now 32, and I've joined an awesome, super supportive RP guild.

If you feel a slight inclination toward RP, I recommend you try it. I was nervous at first, but I'm having a blast and considering bringing my main or a higher level (71) alt over to Wyrmrest.

Breakfast Topic: How to be realm-famous {WoW}
