Feb 3rd 2009 4:37PM "Great Clash reference, two thumbs up!"
Dec 11th 2008 4:04PM I wont deny that WoW (or whatever MMO) probably would have tripped me up pretty good in college, but to say that Blizzard or the game itself 'Caused' me to screw myself out of an education is absurd. My own lack of responsibility/maturity would have been at fault.
That point aside, the actions of the FCC (allegedly at the behest of Clear Channel and other media conglomerates) in approving the merger of Sirius/XM (after an extremely protracted period of time) were deplorable. That body is hopelessly corrupt and any claims coming out of it (such as this one) should probably be dismissed out of hand.
I guess Marilyn Manson's latest release didnt sell enough units for these agencies to effectively use him as a scapegoat for all that is wrong with 'America's Youth.' Time to find a new fallguy.
Dec 1st 2008 5:09PM I saw 3 drop in my first Violet Hold run a bit more than a week ago. My assumption has been that the drop rate in dungeons (at least... 75+ dungeons) is exceptionally high provided someone in the group needs it.
Quickly checking wowhead loot tables confirms at least part of my suspicion... it doesnt seem to drop in UK/Nex or either Azjol Nerub dungeon.
Nov 26th 2008 4:11PM Thankfully I'm not hard up for gold (seems to come pretty freely questing through Wrath)... but I've already spent several hundred switching back and forth between Prot and Fury for guild runs. Dual specs cant come soon enough.
Nov 25th 2008 2:17PM BC "Tank gear" with Hit and Expertise was relatively scarce (maybe 20-22 pieces in game... depending on what you classify as "Tank Gear").
Most of it, as you indicated, was in T6 (some T5 and Badge Gear too)... but that kindof illustrates my point. You could easily run into problems with Rage Generation (and thus TPS) in several heroics well before then.
I never quite got to the point where I was overgeared for Heroics, but once I was safely over crit immunity I moved to more of an EH build (like I said... my opinion of Avoidance tanking has always been that it seems kindof dopey). But I had a Pally friend in a mix of Badge, ZA and T4 gear who had a a chronic problem running OOM because he wasnt taking enough damage in non-progression content (ie going back to certain heroics).
For whatever its worth, I think changes in 3.0.2 seem like they'll go a long way toward remedying this problem. Time will tell, as I'm still about 2 1/2 levels from 80... but Wrath abilities seem to favor a high armor/stam/str build.
Nov 25th 2008 12:24PM The idea of 'avoidance tanking' has always seemed very counterintuitive to me. So many threat-generating abilities require the mob to hit you, either directly (procing damage shields for example) or indirectly (providing rage to use other abilities, or in the Case of Pallies, providing a mechanism for Mana Regen).
Basically... Neither DPS nor Healers can really 'out-gear' content (they can outgear their tank, but that's a seperate matter). Tanks can and often do. You spend so much time and effort trying to get to uncrittable for end-game content, only to (eventually) get to a point where, if you want to go back and run a heroic or help someone in a normal instance, you have to start taking tanking gear off to remain effective. That's just silly.
Nov 19th 2008 3:07PM ... as long as theyre at it, I'll expect Whirlwind to become spamable too.
Nov 18th 2008 2:10PM :( The instance bugged (crashed... hard) on us as we were approaching the 1st boss the other night. Havent had enough guildies on at once since. Hopefully we'll get to it tonight.
Both (Azol Nerub and Ahn'kahet... at least as much as I saw) are really beautiful.
