Apr 1st 2009 4:33AM I've gotten these before as well, because the email I use get spammed quite a lot, these phishers obviously buy email adresses from the same people that sell them to spammers.
With 11 million players there's enough hits in 100.000 or even 1.000.000 mails sent. Notice that the mail never actually mentions the account name.
My typical reaction is "if this is legit, let them close the account and I'll start up the recovery procedure by mailing the adress on their website, knowing that I'm actually dealing with Blizzard".
Mar 3rd 2009 4:19AM Great we have a new warlock writer.
Except that he has no clue how bad Dark Pact is compared to Life Tap. (I don't care what anyone says 3k instead of 4k is still horrible, not mentioning that raid buffed Life tap can do upwards of 5k, especially with 4pT7)
He also seems utterly clueless about Felguard/Emberstorm, one of the best performing demo/destro hybrid builds.
Other than that, the doomguard section shows clearly that it's a warlock writer with no interest how warlocks are doing in raids.
Well... nice a casual column about warlocks, but I sure hope there will also be a writer for somewhat more hardcore warlocks.
Feb 25th 2009 4:34AM Why are you taking more than 1 tick of damage during Vortex?
Seriously, slap down the Demonic Circle just behind the orb and hit Demonic Teleport as soon as you're up in the air.
Move to the top of the meters in this fight by keeping dps up, while the rest of the raid is spinning around.
With Lifetapping, especially as an affliction warlock that constantly gets self healed all the time (60k healing on Patchwerk yo!), I also only look at 3 things:
1) Would I otherwise be casting just filler.
2) Will I run out of mana before the boss is death.
3) Will I get the full effect.
I'm yet to die to lifetapping at the wrong time (Okay with the exception of the lifetap + decimate bug on Gluth).
Jan 19th 2009 10:53AM I personally switched from:
SB -> Haunt -> UA -> Immo -> Corruption -> CoA -> Syphon Life
SB -> Haunt -> Corruption -> CoA -> UA -> Immo -> Syphon Life.
This gives me a SB before I recast Haunt, after that three more SB's Before I go UA -> Immo -> Life Tap -> Haunt.
This gives me another window of four SB's before going: CoA -> Haunt -> Syphon Life -> UA -> Immo.
After that I just wing it by looking at TimerButton, I'm showing Haunt, UA, CoA and Syphon Life, because Immo is always cast after UA and corruption should never fall of the mob.
Jan 19th 2009 7:13AM Well, I consider myself a pretty good (affliction) warlock, and in our raid there's ussually 3 hunters clearly on top.
After that there's 1 (unholy) deathknight, 1 (0/53/18) mage and me, sharing 4-6th placed. We're all equally geared, however needless to say we leave all the other (also equally geared) mages and warlocks well behind us.
So I would say that a decently played mage is indeed still well behind a good played warlock (or behind a good played mage).
Since he claims it's mostly FFB spamming I'm guessing he's just missing quite a few Hot Streak procs, or at least not using them right away, which causes less Hot Streaks: so less dps.
So: Yes mage, if you're not getting the maximum out of your spec, I'm leaving you way behind. That's what I really like about WotLK is that we now see the best players (and hunters) are top dps rather than the best class. (Yes, I'm aware that in TBC I could rock the dps-charts because 0/21/40 specced, shadow bolt scaled better than anything else in the game).
Jan 14th 2009 9:50AM Not to mention rather hypocritical if you actually recognized the name
Jan 12th 2009 2:52AM Well enjoy it while it lasts.
As a warlock, over level 70, you'll be free honor points.
Deathknights are about the only class that doesn't have some kind of immunity to fear, of course they get a free trinket, strangulate, mind freeze and death grip.
Good luck. I now only enter BGs in PvE gear and nuke from a vehicle, that way I'm at least somewhat useful. (PvP gear does nothing for my survivability but does gimp my damage).
Jan 9th 2009 3:44AM I'm broke.
I'm also Loremaster.
There's only the horribly repetitve dailies if I want to make money through questing...
Jan 5th 2009 6:30AM - "looks like you never been raiding, and being forced to carry two bags full of shards to summon ppl, give HS and SS."
Seriously dude, grow a spine! If you're letting people treat you like dirt, they will be treating you like dirt.
If I go to 25-man Naxxramas, I bring 5 soulshards. (Yes, I'll bank the rest if I have more).
The first one is for a soulwell, the second one is for a soulstone, the third one is for for a spellstone.
That leaves me with 2 soulstones for summons, those are for when someone had to be replaced because they had to cancel for some reason or if someone has to pick up something in a capital on request of the raidleader.
I'm not summoning people because they are lazy, because I don't reward laziness and because I'm not their little bitch.
Now here's how you replenish you shards: You turn on name tags on mobs on the trash pulls. Rain of Fire untill one of two or left, click the one remaining mob, souldrain.
With the minor glyph of Souldrain, I have 10-15 by the time we reach Anub'Rehkan and a full bag again at Faerlina.
You'd know this if you'd not only grown and raided a bit, but also learned to adjust after 3.0.2.
Seriously if you think you need to squeeze out every bit of dps on trash you're the one needing to grow up and raid a bit.
But you also need to grow up a bit if you think it souldraining hurts your dps that badly, on that run I had no trouble ending 4th overall on damage, right behind 3 BM hunters..
Dec 31st 2008 2:47AM It's rather simple why they don't implement this.
Experiments have shown that sometimes always randomly rewarding someone with something useful when they open a box is (ironically) less addicting than only sometime rewarding them with something random that's useful and sometimes not rewarding them at all.
The current system will keep your attention longer, it's not in Blizzard's interest to change it.
