The Classifieds: The most uber players of the week {WoW}

Mar 10th 2010 4:35PM Mm, I do like the positive stories now. If I want to read drama, I'll just go sit in trade for an hour. I'll be sure to keep an eye out for any acts of uberness in the future.

Raven's Manveer Heir urges industry to address ethnic misrepresentation {Joystiq}

Morgan Freeman, proving that racism is a bullshit excuse to get away with unnecessary things. Also, as far as playing the "race card" is concerned, no one would care if a white male tried it, so even if a white dude somehow gets offended by a videogame character and tries to start a controversy the game companies know no one will ever give a shit. The world needs to follow Morgan Freeman's words and see people as people, not black dude, white dude, jewish dude, whatever.

Cataclysm: Stat and system changes for mages {WoW}

Mar 5th 2010 9:12PM I don't understand why people are worried about old gear being pointless when the changes happen. Yes, when the changes are made and the chance that you've got some "healer" gear equipped and molten armor does something else (maybe it makes a red aura of hate around you any time a warlock is close?) you will have some useless useless spirit. But, by that time why would it matter? If the patch hits that changes everything goes live pre-xpac (which it most likely will) there will probably be so many imbalances for lv 80s that it wont matter that you have 600 spirit sitting there doing nothing.

Patch 3.3.3 PTR: Random dungeons are being watched {WoW}

Feb 24th 2010 9:27PM I lol'd. If only that debuff existed in real life for jackasses. What's that? You hurt yourself robbing someones place? We know you'll win in court but enjoy the permanent hat you have to wear around that says "I'm a giant douche" across it.

Patch 3.3.3 PTR: Random dungeons are being watched {WoW}

Feb 24th 2010 9:21PM huh.. well in that case some instances only take 15 minutes or less so couldn't you just not be an ass and do the run anyways? Just seems like a really stupid reason to drop group. More stupid than the waves of people that drop oculus because they don't like it.

Eh.... You can queue for specific dungeons. You don't get the 2 emblems at the end but still. If you only want oculus then queue for only oculus.

Patch 3.3.3 PTR: Random dungeons are being watched {WoW}

Feb 24th 2010 8:55PM Agreed. An option they could do instead of the deserter debuff which other games have used is if you leave you can't queue up again until the instance has been completed or the rest of the group has disbanded. Although this method could create some pretty messed up harassment where 2 friends queue up together and keep the group together for a couple of hours by taking a step forward in between SF4 matches or something.

Feb 24th 2010 8:39PM Mm, I do like this idea. I'd also like them to add a screen similar to the bg kb/dmg/etc list to the lfg instances. And (possibly with bnet2.0?) a way to rate a players overall usefulness in the run, with a comment/suggestion box you can send them. Of course this ability would allow ass hats to spam people with less than wtpfx epic gear that they suck, which would easily by countered by a filter system that if the comment/suggestion has certain words in it it doesn't get sent. Or (which I'm sure they'll have for other bnet 2.0 features) an opt out check box for it.

Breakfast Topic: In-Jokes {WoW}

Jan 23rd 2010 4:42PM Back in 10 naxx with my guild we kept wiping on grob, and people started getting frustrated which is rare because we're pretty laid back and just like to have a good time. So thinking it would help the raid leader puts on "eye of the tiger" and blasts it over vent as we pull. Sure enough we downed him on that attempt and now if we wipe someone usually picks some music to blast. (my song is Brass Monkey) It doesn't really help that often due to the fact that you can't hear anyone calling stuff, but it makes it more fun.

The Dungeon Finder and gear disparity {WoW}

Jan 2nd 2010 6:34PM I've been playing this game since it's come out, and I remember the fastest smoothest runs you could get back in vanilla WoW in a 5 man were 45 minutes, and that's if the whole group knows exactly where to walk when to dodge pats, and were overgeared for the content. So, when I get into a heroic now, and we wipe here and there due to someone who may be undergeared, or just plain not know what they're doing which makes the run take *GASP* 35 minutes instead of 25 I see it as a perfectly fine run.

Everyone also needs to remember that pre dungeon finder it was near impossible to find a group for anything until you hit outland, and even then on some servers it wasn't worth the trouble. So it's VERY possible that people have gone from 1-80 solo and they wonder "what now?" see the dungeon finder and figure why not give it a try. I remember back in BC I had to teach a hunter how to properly freeze mobs, seeing as there's no cc anymore just giving tips here and there shouldn't be a problem.

As a tip for those runs where you know it's going to be kind of slower due to low dps, a slow pulling tank, or a drinking healer just remember humans are capable of multitasking. It's not uncommon for me to be playing my DS, taking care of my screaming baby or simply watching star trek or something and still keeping the tank up or topping the dps meters. Tanks can do this too, run in and start mashing all of your aoe abilities as often as possible while kicking back with a comic book or something.
