May 2nd 2009 8:52AM No arenas.
I signed up to play an MMO; if I want to play a deathmatch game, I'll play something that was actually designed for it.
Apr 28th 2009 2:46PM I've got an idea for GC, if he wants to do something about the perception arenas are the only thing that matters: stop MAKING them the only thing htat matters. Every single nerf and design change of the past two years was explicitly made for arenas, and they've made it quite clear they only care about content as long as it's drawing QQs from arena players; witness mages in 2.0, engineering in 3.0, and the entire last six months worth of blue posts. Arena issues are all treated as OMG urgent, while everyone else with a concern is treated like garbage and told to L2Play.
Let's see them ruin a few abilities and items for arenas for once; then it might be possible to believe that hypocrite.
Apr 28th 2009 2:18PM Make crafting relevant again; maybe even make it so engineering isn't purely for arenatards.
That'd be nice.
Apr 27th 2009 4:16PM So much for ambiguity; I love how every time they leave anything in a moral grey area they automatically retcon it so it fits the cookie-cutter Good Gaiz vs. Bad Gaiz conceit.
It could have been a real conflict between two actual sides, not The Great White Aryan Hope vs. those dirty enslaving green skins, but no. In terms of story, both of the expansions have been an absolute waste of time if you're in the Horde.
At least in Warhammer, bad guys are allowed to be genuinely and consistently bad, instead of spending 90% of their time on the exact same goals as the fluffy bunny patrol.
Apr 20th 2009 5:11PM Speaking as a former engineer, I'd say 1 and 2 are absolutely fair and correct.
Anyone want a slightly used "universal" profession? I'll throw in a free Pet Enlarger, and a current-gen dragonling too...
Apr 18th 2009 5:33PM Yah... little tip: if you're going to try to extol the virtues of engineering, don't cite one of the top 5 items in the Litany of Lies and Failure that is post-classic engineering.
The CritterEnlarger was never implemented; Blizzard just put it o nthe PTRs to trick us into testing it for them before they gave it to the TCG instead.
Apr 6th 2009 1:18PM I have one wish, and until last week it seemed pretty reasonable: PvE viability.
Four years I wasted on that profession, and then they hand it over outright to the arenas, the one segment of the population that's done more to ruin it than any other person or thing.
Obviously, since that's fine with the devs, all I can say is good riddance; crashing the JC market is more fun anyway.
Mar 31st 2009 11:54AM You've just summarized 90% of the problem in one paragraph.
Mar 31st 2009 11:29AM Had it since I signed up first year, but this was the last straw. Everything about the profession I liked is now dead, killed of for the sake of PvP. Nevermind the endless grocery list of other false promises in Blizzard's own description of the profession, their own class designer stated early on his supposed goal was to avoid forcing players to choose a profession based on what kind of gameplay they preferred.
Like almost every other goal put in front of him, LeCraft failed, and continues to fail miserably.
Considering how many times this profession has been trashed for the sake of PvP QQs, it's just about perfect that it's been so thoroughly bastardized for the sake of "balance" that it only works in arenas.
Mar 29th 2009 2:51PM Hooray! Engineering is teh saved!
Screw PvE value, now there's arena gimmicks AND an extra vanity pet!
