Jul 15th 2008 6:06AM Best of luck in getting your research approved! I should think there's some rich potential for psych research in WoW...
Jul 15th 2008 6:02AM Thanks for your very perceptive comment! It's interesting that you reacted that way, and it makes a lot of sense, considering how identity functions within the game, and how avatar-based play fuctions more generally.
Good on you for encouraging your niece to explore those other identities - identity tourism has its downsides, but it can also be a very effective teaching tool.
Jul 15th 2008 5:58AM Glad you liked the interview, and I'm curious as to how your prof liked your paper! As Torill mentioned in her comment, Hilde Corneliussen's chapter covers gender issues, although I do mention the latent homophobia inherent in the depiction of the Belf males (especially their Pussycat Dolls joke).
Keep on writing about WoW, and I'll keep an eye out for you in the journals! :)
Jul 15th 2008 5:53AM Glad you liked it, and I'm glad you'll be checking out the book! As for hardcore progression guilds, I know that at least two of us are or have been in big endgame guilds. My chapter doesn't really deal with this sort of play, but I think you'll find Tanya Krzywinska's chapter interesting in that context.
