May 6th 2009 11:38AM The analogy to finding money is quite strained.
Money is a limited resource. If you have it, someone else does not.
The loot and mounts mentioned are not limited resources. If Marvel has it, there is nothing to keep subsequent quilds from receiveing the same items once they clear the content.
The only thing that Marvel is "taking away" from others are server-first accomplishments. Those were easy to clear for Blizzard.
For Blizz to ban people for their own mistake is shallow and petty. I am very disappointed that they would overreact so badly to some people explointing a mistake made by Blizzard.
If this is the case, many, many of us should be banned including:
- every mage that specced Arc/FFB and placed Focus magic prior to switching back to FFB when the bug was in the game and known should be banned.
- every mage that used spellsteal and incanter's absorption to solo Naxx should be banned.
- every guild that used a voidwalker tank to tank Sarth should be banned.
- everyone that can speak draconic and publicized the text of the Wrathgate speech should be banned. The draconic comprehension is a bug, right?
These are all exploits of in-game mechanics to do things that were not intended by Blizzard. Isn't that exactly what Marvel did with their in-game item??? Sure, Marvel had access to an exploit that others could not replicate. But a perma-ban??? Come on.
Apr 14th 2009 12:48PM Oh yes. I would like a copy please.
Apr 7th 2009 9:45AM I like the ideas above about Gilneas, Maelstrom, Emerald Dream, etc.
However, I think it would be very cool for Blizz to take it's phasing technology to the next level and use Azeroth as the stage for a next level Alliance vs. Horde conflict.
The Wrathgate events seem to set the stage - maybe it's time for a 4th war. I have a hard time seeing everyone getting along once the common enemy of Arthas is beaten back.
Mar 30th 2009 10:35AM My suggestion for next week's article?
Make a guide on items that currently drop in raid progression that won't be easily replaced in Ulduar - i.e. where should mages spend their DKP. Of course this will rely on the current loot tables and itemization in Ulduar, but that doesn't seem to be changing too much.
I believe Turning Tide, Signet of Manifest Pain and Illustration will likely be at or near the top of that list, but you may disagree if you do some real resarch into the subject.
Feb 6th 2009 10:12AM I'd recommend 2 druids. You'll start in the same place, it's easy to have 1 feral who can switch from cat dps to bear for outside/ inside instances while the other goes resto or balance and can heal.
Feb 6th 2009 9:31AM How about making the Arcane Blast debuff not able to be dispelled by friendlies? I'm sick of being griefed in raids by my own priest and pally teammates thinking it's funny or mindlessly spammind decursive.
Feb 6th 2009 9:29AM No, it doesn't work this way. FoF works on the next 2 spells. It's not like Frost Nova/Frostbite in that if a spell leaves you and the target is still affected, it gets the shatter benefit. Once your second FFB is cast, the FoF buff is consumed and the Ice Lance won't get FoF treatment.
Jan 5th 2009 9:18AM Definitely a needed change.
However, the timing leaves people like me that have the Loremaster of Northrend achievement in a bind. I've already DE'ed all my quest rewards and drops. Under this new system, I suspect I'd easily be at 450 instead of stuck at the 422 with no dust as I am.
Dec 31st 2008 10:15AM Seems to me that people are taking one line in one speech that Ms. Tate gave to vilify her.
She's a senior political appointee. I'd expect that she gives thousands of pages of speeches a year. She probably didn't even write the speech. Some FCC staffer probably wrote it. Get over it.
If you want to evaluate her career, you should probably look at what the FCC's done during her tenure - wavelength auctions, merger approvals/rejections, whatever... rather than focusing on one line in one speech. I don't really know what the FCC's up to - do any of you? They do a LOT more than videogames people.
