Officers' Quarters: Raiding addons aren't optional {WoW}

Oct 18th 2010 7:32PM One thing you're not taking into account is the fact that if anyone (especially your raid leader) is running DBM/DXE/BW or any of the other raid addons, you're already "using" it.

You're getting raid warnings and chat messages from the addon. You're probably getting verbal warnings from the raid leader over vent, who is getting his information from his timers.

Officers' Quarters: A friendly loot system {WoW}

Apr 19th 2010 3:38PM The biggest problem with EPGP is that it's challenging to explain. Lots of people will understand the mechanics that goes on (effort divided by gear equals priority) but they won't understand why it should be that way. And when someone takes loot over them, they'll feel screwed because they don't understand the system that determines their loot for them.

I like plain old DKP. Earn points for effort, bid points for gear. Gear is only worth what people are willing to pay for it.

MMFixed's Magic Mouse fix hands-on, literally {Engadget}

Apr 13th 2010 11:34AM @Kid Red

I'm not an "apple hater" but I sure as hell hate their mouses (mice?). I personally don't think they've ever made a comfortable one. Most of them look great and futuristic for their time, but every one back to the hockey puck were crap for ergonomics, plain and simple. The Mighty Mouse was terrible. No contours at all, basically guaranteeing wrist strain.

I love Apple's design, I really do. I just wish the mouse designers would consider that people need to use them for extended amounts of time. Then they could look nice and be nice and comfortable, and I wouldn't need a Logitech or Microsoft mouse to go with the Mac on my desk.

Cataclysm Class Changes: Druid {WoW}

Apr 9th 2010 9:49PM I think that it's OK, because rather than getting new spells, you're getting ANOTHER hot (Efflorescence) via crit, and they're changing a core mechanic (moving Tree of Life into a cooldown rather than a form).

Actually, from someone who _doesn't_ play a resto druid, I like the idea that restos will no longer be permanently immune to some CCs like sheep. So now you can never be banished, but you can be sheeped. Kiss/curse.

Cataclysm Class Changes: Druid {WoW}

Apr 9th 2010 9:45PM But you'll have to consider "Nature's Torrent" which deals the higher potential of the two and moves the meter...they didn't say which direction it moves the meter in, or what the CD on this spell might be.

Depending on talents, procs, and mastery, there may be reasons at times to push the balance far in one direction and then go back, or there may be good reason to stay as balanced as possible, or there may be reasons to do both. I'm excited to see how this works out, it may give me incentive to actually try leveling a boomkin. I've tried Feral, and the farthest I've gotten is lvl 31...I just can't stand it. Maybe I'll delete it and try a Worgen druid.

Thoughts on the death knight tanking change {WoW}

Apr 7th 2010 2:46PM I really do have a feeling that presences will be changed to reflect the talent tree changes being made.

At least, I hope they do. God, the confusion in Hellfire Peninsula where all the new lvl 58 DK tanks will be insisting that since blood is the tanking tree, it's the presence they should be in.

New Recruit-A-Friend mount coming soon {WoW}

Apr 6th 2010 9:20AM Yeah, Blizz doesn't single out countries to shaft, they have lawyers that study their laws and tell them that they can and can't do things there.

Same reason WoW.Com's contests have restrictions. It's not that they don't like you, it's legal CYA.

Cataclysm dispel mechanics {WoW}

Apr 6th 2010 1:35AM And that's entirely the point. Now you've come to a situation where you have to decide: "is it worth the mana and GCDs necessary to cleanse this debuff or should I just try to burn through it?"

There's strategy. Not "oops a disease, abolish disease, don't have to worry about it anymore." That doesn't even approach strategy. That's a kneejerk response, and it begs the question, why even allow you to be diseased in the first place if it costs you nothing but one GCD for 12 seconds of free cleansing?

Now you'll have to look at what the disease does and decide whether it's important enough to get rid of. Is it worth it? IDK, DKs have so much damage locked up not just in the dot, but the strikes that are modified by diseases being on target, maybe it is worth dropping form for two or four quick dispels. Now you've got the DK without runes to reapply, and they're at a damage disadvantage for several seconds.

Think about it.
