PSA: 100,000 more Diablo 3 beta invites sent out {Joystiq}

Feb 4th 2012 12:09PM @Beholder87

Sorry to disagree with you, but the beta plays excellently. It's 100 percent Diablo. Blizzard has done a great job living up to my expectations on it. I of course just wish there was more things to play through in the beta at this point. But if this is an indication of the full game I'm extremely excited now.

Egoraptor's Sequelitis analyses Super Castlevania IV {Joystiq}

Jan 29th 2012 7:47PM Man, I hate this guy. Even if he does have some good points his reviews are grating to put it mildly. I wish everyone on the internet would stop trying to be Yahtzee or Seth Mcfarlene.

NCsoft files TERA-related lawsuit against Bluehole and En Masse {Massively}

Jan 26th 2012 4:59PM Hmmm. This isn't exactly making me a bigger fan of NCsoft. But, if they are in the right, then I can't blame them for the law suite I guess. And people wonder why the game industry is so secretive...

BlizzCon skipping 2012 due to 'jam-packed schedule' {Massively}

Wow, what the hell? This was a reply to another post. The comment system here bites.

BlizzCon skipping 2012 due to 'jam-packed schedule' {Massively}

Jan 25th 2012 1:23PM Agreed. With Dragon Soul being the last raid and big patch content for Cataclysm. Pushing MoP back to 2013 would be suicide. But I doubt a lot of people here on Massively would be upset about that. *smirks*

If anything is pushed back, my money would be on HoTS. But I don't really keep up with SC2 so I'm not 100% sure on where it stands developmentally here.

No BlizzCon in 2012, Battle.net championship to be held in Asia {WoW}

Jan 25th 2012 11:49AM Anyone remember the Blizzcon prior to the announcemnt of Lich King? I think it was 2009. They had like next to nothing new to announce there and I felt fairly disappointed after attending. Maybe they're trying to avoid this kind of thing again.

Besides, these things take a ton of time away from development. Developers are pulled away from projects to host panels. Along with artists and programmers. Customer service is pulled from their positions to help man booths and direct these panels also. Artist and programmers are pulled to do the yearly freebie pet/mount. They need to have the art team do banners and murals.

I honestly think this may be a good thing. And besides, it's not the only major convention or even Blizzard announces things. There's still Gamescom, which is where I believe Starcraft 2 was announced. And then they did announce Diablo 3 at the french starcraft invitational as well. So I imagine there will be plenty of announcement opportunities here. :)

BlizzCon skipping 2012 due to 'jam-packed schedule' {Massively}

Jan 25th 2012 11:21AM Well, with 2 big games and 2 major expansions in the works, I'm not surprised. It takes a lot of resources to run these things and it's not the only big gaming press event they could use to announce new things here. If I remember correctly, Starcraft 2 was announced at Gamecom and they announced Diablo 3 during the French Starcraft tournament. If they can batten down the hatched and get D3, MoP and HOtS all launched this year, then I'll be in gamer heaven.

Blizzard job listing mentions 'product placement' within its next MMO {Massively}

Jan 23rd 2012 8:31PM @NothingShocking

Yeah, I agree 100% with you. A great company like Blizzard deserves all the success they've gotten and I'm not going to complain if they can make more money if it means they continue to make outstanding games. If what I've heard is true and Titan does have a contemporary sci-fi setting. Then in-game adds would be for the most part, barely noticeable. It's way to early to tell anyways here. Lets cry havoc once we see an official launch trailer and what kind of game this'll be first.

Diablo III senior producer leaves Blizzard {Massively}

Jan 22nd 2012 2:12PM @Dunraven

Wow, if I could marry a comment. Haha.

Seriously, you hit the nail on the head about my feelings as well. The beta is amazing (if a bit too short) and the game is turning out great. I think he may have just wanted to move onto another career or something. It's not very unusual for many people in the game industry to want to move on and do something else. Like film and the like.

Diablo III senior producer leaves Blizzard {Massively}

Jan 22nd 2012 2:07PM My guess is that like a lot of people in the game industry he wants to move onto the film industry or something else. While producers are important to keep games on schedule and teams motivated. I don't think they're the core of the team and the way Blizzard works on games producing may be a bit more hands off then the way other companies have them.

Now, if Jay Wilson left, or someone else of prominence on the actual design team then I'd be raising my eyebrows a bit.
