Nov 9th 2009 3:00PM Uru Live. So much potential there.
Aug 12th 2009 12:28PM "And on behalf of the WoW.com staff, please stop sending in tips about this. We're not posting on it because we have nothing new to report on."
I beg to differ.
This ongoing situation with the instance servers has been an issue for literally months now. I understand that Blizzard must be working desperately to fix the problem, and I appreciate and support their efforts. The fact that you're asking people to stop sending in tips tells me you are being deluged with comments, complaints, rants, and general unhappiness about the instance problem. The thing is, the people who are writing in are complaining because they are paying for a service they are not receiving. I can't think of a single more important issue facing the greater WoW community at this time than people in the affected realms and battlegroups, myself included, being locked out of half the game's content! Am I wrong? Is this not newsworthy?
With the instances unavailable, players cannot acquire faction reputation, emblems, Stone Keeper's Shards, experience, or finish dungeon quests. (At least, not at the rate you can when you can actually get into an instance.) This is a showstopper. People will suspend their accounts and not come back over this. I would think Blizzard is especially worried at the moment with BlizzCon coming up. What good are upcoming patches and expansions if you can't experience them? What confidence will anyone have that they will actually be able to play Starcraft II or Diablo III?
If nothing else, WoW.com could serve the community by posting an entry compiling all the presently known information about this issue: a timeline, the blue posts, anything and everything, whatever information is available. I'm aware you have posted about it before and I could just search for those posts. Post about it again anyway. Let your readers know you're actively following the story.
It's a big deal. And asking people not to talk about it is not the answer.
May 31st 2009 11:21AM Blink is certainly unreliable at best. So perhaps we should think about it in a completely different way, in comparison to some other in-game ability which works consistently and reliably to move something a certain distance very quickly in one direction. Like Death Knight Death Grip.
What if Blink could be retooled to basically throw you through the air very quickly (or even instantly) like a self-activated self-cast backwards Death Grip?
There are problems with this, not least of which is that you could continue to take some sort of incremental damage while in flight. I'm sure there are a billion other reasons why this wouldn't work but I'm interested to hear what everyone has to say about it.
May 11th 2009 10:35AM I went from Neutral to Exalted in about four days with CE. I did all the quests I could find, then ground Cultists for Encrypted Twilight Text, which you can turn in ten at a time for 500 rep. Look for Twilight Prophets; there are two of them and they are a semi-rare spawn, but they drop from 5 to 10 Encrypted Twilight Text. You'll also collect a huge amount of Runecloth, which you can turn in for Alliance city rep, or make cheap bags for alts or guildies, or sell, or whatever.
Dec 5th 2008 3:01PM Definitely Felicia Day. Or Mila Kunis. Or Brigitte Nielsen.
Blizz should also get the cast of "The Big Bang Theory." Penny was cheetos-in-the-hair addicted to AoC, not WoW, so she might be okay this time around.
Nov 6th 2008 4:08PM Don't make me a sad panda, gift me a polar bear, plzkthx. :D
Nov 6th 2008 2:28PM I love the new look. Definitely a welcome improvement. Nice color scheme, awesome menu organization, really puts all the site content at your fingertips.
I'm a sometime web/print designer, fwiw (probably not a lot), and I think it's fabu. Great job folks. :)
Oct 6th 2008 11:18AM Holiday events in WoW should be fun. Brewfest 2007 was excellent fun. I went back every day to grind for tickets, there were tons of people around doing the same thing, it was crazy fun.
Brewfest 2008 was anti-fun. It took the fun of the previous year and annihilated it. That giant sucking sound you hear is how much Brewfest sucked this time plus the black hole of suck left on the grounds outside IF.
And seriously, ending the event at the beginning of October 4 instead of at the end of the day like any normal, rational human being would expect was just not cool at all. You say there was a notice about exactly when Brewfest was going to end? It was on display? "It was on display in the bottom of a locked filing cabinet stuck in a disused lavatory with a sign on the door saying 'Beware of the Leopard.'" Yes, I just likened Blizz forums to disused lavatories. Discuss.
Yes, I got a couple of trinkets out of the Direbrew fight. No, the mount did not drop for me, nor did it drop for any of my guildmates. Yes, I think that's totally lame. No, I am not going to stop playing WoW or threaten to stop playing WoW over this. Yes, if Blizz boofs Hallow's End like this I will put pixel to panel and have my say about it.
Jul 23rd 2008 4:55PM Okay, waitjustaminute. Arcane Focus looks like it got savagely nerfed. It's gone from 5 points max to 3, and Blizz clarified the language about the whole Spell Hit thing but it looks like it's gone from a maximum possible +10% Spell Hit to +3%. Am I seeing this right?
