Feb 16th 2010 2:09PM My 10m guild started on this fight last night. We don't have a lock, so we started with our hunter, he got 2 shot so many times, we decided to use our mage thinking the mage armor dmg reductions would help. He did a little better but would still get one shot even though he had 3+ nucleii on him.
Eventually we had our pali mt take both bosses on the platform, and I tanked him on my drud. This went a little better, he could take more hits, and his FFF could pick up the nucleii, but his main problem was running out of nuclii because they where agroing on other random players and he couldn't get them off of them with FFF and he would run out of nucleii and get hammered.
We thought maybe aoe was the problem at first, but then we noticed toons like our hunter, our rogue and our resto was getting nucleii agro, not sure what to do about that.
Feb 9th 2010 3:06PM I played this game for a while starting at the end of 2005. It was my first MMO. I started off grinding my skills up the melee path, ended up pretty powerful but was kind of small potatoes, but when they started selling Land Areas I invested heavily and bought three well located ones. I had a good friend in game and even though she was half a world away, we just clicked together and I had the best time together. She was into crafting really heavily and had lots of rare patterns and was making some good money off those and the auction house. We bought some high end armor and weapons and were involved in SOC activities and our SOC won LAs through the PVP events that we also collected a little money on.
I didn't like the nerfs that they started making, and they made and other changes that I didn't like. I loved Project Entropia, but when they changed to Entropia Universe it just started going down hill for me. I was at an inflection point, I was either going to heavily invest or leave, I made the decision to leave and sold out before they started selling limited items, etc. I walked away with over $35k usd profit. Small potatoes compared to many others that came later and invested heavily at more inflated prices though. It took months to get my money back but I did eventually get it back, that process wasn't the fastest at the time, I don't know what its like now. You can put Money in and have it that moment off your credit card, or wire transfer, but it takes a loooooong time to get your money wired back to your bank from the company. But, I can say that I, and many others got their money back.
I know many that lost a lot playing and would get discouraged and quit. But its like any casino, you go in and mine or craft or hunt mobs for the big jackpot you will most likely loose, your betting against the casino that has the advantage. They will pay out enough to keep you spending. They occasionally pay out big to noobs or old timers to keep the high numbers up on the scoreboard, but those are rare, and most players know they pay for it because they see their loots sucking for a long time before a big HOF. However, if you play against the players trading and such, and you can win playing the greater fool theory, at least it worked for me.
I log back in occasionally to say hi to friends on holidays and such, its free to chat ;) I havent' put any money in since I took it all out years ago but there are a lot of old timers still there who are still spending their $10 a month to try and hit the jackpot. There are many that pride themselves on having built it all up from sweating and have never deposited a dime, they are the real winners imo.
The game looks so much different now then when I started playing with the new engine. In some ways I look back with nostalgia at my old screen shots in how primitive it was then. But it was new, and exciting, and totally fun, and sucked me in and I played for hours and hours and hours and the money made it that much more fun and exciting and played at the highest levels of the game.
There was nothing like having the best armor and best weapons in the game ( at the time ) and going to my hanger and taking my ship up to the space station and tanking multiple alien mobs in Dome 4 with my gf and just watching the HOFS and Globals roll by the chat window. I could easily blow $100 a night in ammo, but I was making it off my LAs taxes and auctions so I didn't care, I was having fun. ahh good times. I haven't found anything else in the MMO space since then that gave me that thrill and challenge. I really miss those old days, I'm sorry they are gone.
Jan 25th 2010 5:47PM My main is raid geared tank, I run dailies as fast as I can to get the two frost emblems, that's it, I don't want to be in the same old tired heroic any longer then I have to be. I don't want to wait for dispersion or whatever the stupid slow me down boss mechanic is that I've seen for the umpteenth time already then I have to. Most of the time I'll try to get it with guildies so we can just blow up the minimum and get on with more interesting stuff, like finishing boosting my other two toons so I can multibox the damn things myself and don't have to put up with you morons any longer. Problem is we are often not on the same schedule so I have to use the LFG tool, so if I have to run with you scrubs, just suck it up and keep up or leave, another dps will be along shortly, most of that stuff can be four manned anyway.
I also run it on 3 other lesser geared alts as fast as I can for frost emblems so they can buy primordial saronite for my main. I figure the faster I get through the faster you guys can queue up with some group that wants to role play or do some circle jerk achievement together or lollygag through the place looking for hidden treasure or whatever it is you do with the hours it takes you to get through, feel free, just don't give me your , "your not doing it right" or "whahh I need my triumph badges" bullshit lol.
Jan 8th 2010 1:13PM Well done!
Can you do one for Rotface please!
We seemed to have some issues there last night :)
Dec 17th 2009 2:11PM Thanks for sharing this, and thanks to ThreePipeProblem for making it!
I'm retired military and this brings back a lot of memories.
Dec 8th 2009 6:27PM So.. why are we even bothering if we know he's going down anyway?
Nov 23rd 2009 3:36PM me me pick me!
Nov 23rd 2009 3:33PM I remember back in "95" my gf and I had been playing another grinding kind of game that was getting stale so we logged in and made a couple toons, we got as far as the quest where you have to pick up logs in the logging camp... she said, "that's it, F*ck this, he can go pick up his own damn logs" and logged out for the last time and so we went back to our old game lol..
Later, after the gf was gone and I was looking for something else to play. I met a guy from work that played wow, he said his guild needed a healer and I would get to play a lot and actually get an invitation to his guild and most likely get to heal in Molten Core! Oh Boy!
He advised me to create a Night Elf Priest since they had shadow meld and could stealth! lol.. So I did, I'll never forget them boosting me in Tyr's Hand to get those last bars to 60 and getting attuned to the core. I did my first raid that night and have been at it off and on every since, my main is a Feral Druid tank since BC though, in addition to all the other toons I have now. I keep looking for a reason to quit but haven't found one yet.
Nov 3rd 2009 7:46PM I can't level my lock because I keep deleting him after he gets an imp with a stupid name. Once I made it all the way to Sucubus before I had to delete him again :(
Nov 3rd 2009 2:29PM I'm pretty sure its the Netherwelp pet you got from ordering the collectors edition of wow when they came out with bc. At least that is what mine looks like, here's the achievement. I don't think of it as much of an achievement that I shelled out more money then the next guy, but whatever. I is kind of funny to see the reaction from "pet people" when you see them rummaging through their pet collection and I pop it out and they go, ":o where did you get that pet!?!?!"
