May 4th 2009 4:53AM And Warsong, by golly! At last, we don't have heedless fools rushing to other flagroom, leaving our flag undefended except by one hunter (who is easily disposed of by a group of 10 horde) while they are hindered by the last 5 defending their flagroom. Nooooooo... this time, we actually HAD people on defense and those who (after getting the achievement) already warming up to cap the other flag.
In EotS, as long as people understand that everyone has a go at it, we have actually gone off with more than enough 2000 to 0 wins to give all of us THAT achievement.
May 4th 2009 4:43AM I will have to disagree about Alterac Valley on our battlegroup (Bloodlust). Because of that particular "mechanic" we had, within minutes, captured all 4 towers—something that would not have happened before this achievement—that by the time we reached Drek, he was ready to be killed and only a few seconds shy of the 6-minute AV achievement.
Compare that to the "All rush Drek, no stopping" idiocy before that, while the opposing forces would STILL capture towers as a matter of course. Even with all the whingers and whiners screaming at the top of their raid chat lungs "Let them win!" or "We've lost this one... Alliance sucks at PvP" it would be followed literally seconds later by a message that we actually won (leading me to believe that these asshats only say so because of their own poor performance and their personal experiences of being repeatedly killed).
In fact, a lot of us keep feeling that these AV fights were going on too quickly... and that we were winning too quickly. "C'mon, horde... recap the tower!" they'd cry. But on the whole, this achievement, with all their little orphans in tow, actually made us play perfect games against the Horde's perfect game more consistently. Yes, we would win with only 200 reinforcements left, but that's the whole point—for the first time, it didn't seem like the entire battleground was skewed towards a faction... and all because of these little orphans.
And, personally, it made WG, AB and even EotS winnable consistently not only for me (who would PvP anyway for fun) but also for my guildies who have never even gone to a BG, but who have experience taking direction from a raid leader and thinking on their feet. "I need 2 people guarding LM... the rest feign an attack at farm while we attack GM in force... and it's [name of player]'s turn to cap. Orphans out! Okay, take stables and let them get back GM"—a perfect game!
Yes, I disagree... but I can understand why some PvP-only oriented players would find it a... hindrance.
May 1st 2009 6:07AM Next time I find the firing button to half the world's nukes, I'm a-gonna use it to get back at those bullies who tormented me in school. Just for fun... just for laughs.
Mar 24th 2009 11:19PM Yes, to having more accessible neutral auction houses.
No, to having these in Dalaran. I think that the idea behind not wanting the starting cities and old locations to become ghost towns is sound. However, since Shattrath is now, technically, old location I think it makes sense that there should be a neutral auction house there. It fits with lore—Shattrath is a neutral city that doesn't allow horde and alliance to open hostility... surely, by now, there would be some limited trade.
Having it in Shattrath will not hurt the starting cities: people will still go there to get better deals and cheaper items, and only those who can go to Outland will have access to it.
Just my two cents.
Mar 15th 2009 9:59PM What will happen with the meta-achievements if a lot of the content would be edited out?
Mar 15th 2009 9:39PM Sorry, this was meant as a reply to kabshiel when he said: Can we go to war with China yet? Please?
Mar 15th 2009 9:37PM It's like saying "Let's kill Sarth3D... please?" when one can't even get through one wing of Naxx.
Or, like going into Alterac Valley, finding only 10 people on your team, and seeing 40 of the other team blitzkrieging towards your base... and saying "Let's rush Drek/Van!"
The Chinese not only have a well equipped military, they kinda outnumber everyone else's armies.
Mar 10th 2009 1:41AM I guess what Blizz is trying to prevent is the BC trend of using PvP arena gear to replace high-end raiding gear. How many people, for instance, put up with dying week in and week out just to wear S3 gear (except the shoulders) since "it's T6-equivalent". Yes, on an absolute min-max basis, S3 loses out on T6, but those who never even saw T5 were no longer going to T5 content since S3 was just so easier to be had and was better.
Mar 4th 2009 12:57AM I thought protecting my cat was of paramount importance (free DPS) that I made sure to use Arcane Shot to pull mobs... and I tanked.
