Mystery patch (2.0.4) goes live -- and I found the patch notes {WoW}

Jan 13th 2007 12:43AM It trashed my wife's install. No players show up on the screen, just the pets and NPCs. And nice photoshopping.

WoW Rookie: Soulstone and you {WoW}

Dec 14th 2006 10:35PM A little known SS tidbit - if your druid battle-rezes your stoned priest - the stone is now useless. ANY rez (gnome jumper cables, druid, pally rez etc) wipes the stone. You might as well let the party wipe and wait for the mobs to reset and try again from a safe position.

Breakfast Topic: To respec or not to respec? {WoW}

Jul 14th 2006 5:30PM I think a lot depends on your own lvl of experience. I'm on my first character and at 40 I found I had made some goofs on the spec, so I respeced - hopefully I made the right choice this time.

Sanyo updates handheld HD camcorder - Xacti HD1a {Engadget}

Jul 14th 2006 5:28PM Had one of the last gen of these. Was tolen from my pocket while on honeymoon in Paris. I had to buy a DAT based camcorder which turned out to have much better quality - the Xacti was OK but when I ended up putting everything into iMovie the DV stuff was soooo much better.

Lag Monster Respawns Again {WoW}

Jul 11th 2006 3:40PM Seems like its all European servers. Any real lag problems in the US?

MiniPC goes Core Duo with the LF800 {Engadget}

Jul 11th 2006 3:28PM Hmmmm - sounds kinda like a macbook but with no LCD but it does have a slot for a better video card. Bought a macbook for the Wife last week - its a very nice laptop. We have bootcamp installed and XP Pro. As far as I can tell the latest WoW patch (1.11.1) under XP SP2 or 10.4.7 performs pretty much the same. Maybe a few FPS more under XP but basically 10-15 FPS inn SW and 15-30fps outside the cities. I imagine this PC with a better graphics adapter could be a nice gaming rig for LAN parties.

As far as I can tell the latest WoW patch (1.11.1) under XP SP2 or 10.4.7 performs pretty much the same. Maybe a few FPS more under XP but basically 10-15 FPS inn SW and 15-30fps outside the cities. I have the MB Pro and it is pegged at 30+FPS in SW and goes up to 90 outside the cities.

EVO: Phase One promises to touch down in October {Engadget}

Jul 11th 2006 3:18PM Wow - I can't wait!!! I'll have to sell my Xbox360 to make room for this baby. lol

Intel's F1-inspired Viiv remote {Engadget}

Jul 1st 2006 8:35PM Is it me or are the big blue knobs the caps from a permanent markers?

Apple starting to swap out those dirty MacBooks? {Engadget}

Jun 29th 2006 2:13PM I bought a MBP 2.0 and have had zero problems with it. I think most of these issues are bad parts batches and perhaps are showing up due to the use of different manufacturers than used in the past. Personally I have used equipment built in China and it has so far proven to be substandard compared to items purchased from established outlets in other parts of the world(in my case scientific and manufacturing equipment). Basically its a problem of you get what you pay for.
