Dec 13th 2011 3:48PM Is there a way to change the initial defaults of the base Blizzard UI? Specifically I'm talking about the auto-loot function. I don't know why, but it ticks me off the first time I kill something, click to loot it, and have that screen just...hang there, forcing me to go into the options and reset it. It's not hard, and it's not a lengthy process. It's just extremely irritating.
Dec 9th 2011 3:07PM I guess I'm missing something about the profession perks. JC gems are better than the current epics. http://www.wowhead.com/items=3.0?filter=qu=4#0-2+1
They keep their +17 advantage over the regular, which was what we had over the blue gems, I believe?
The rest of the article is spot on, but I don't understand that part of the argument.
Nov 7th 2011 3:28PM Where was the interim raid leader during all this? It seems like he/she should have stepped up and told the disaffected that their role was temporary from the beginning and was happy to step aside for Eddie now that he's returned.
Oct 28th 2011 1:17PM Another consideration is timezone. It can be frustrating if you're on the East Coast and your server is West Coast making you play very late. To check the time zones of servers look here http://www.wowrealmstatus.net/timezones.php?t=1
Oct 18th 2011 4:07PM That song brings Gnomechewer to mind http://www.youtube.com/user/Gnomechewer#p/u/24/tvT7Pj98Plc Too bad he hasn't created anything recently.
Oct 18th 2011 3:53PM If guilds can have up to 1000 toons, why are calendar event invites limited to such a small number?
Aug 17th 2011 12:32PM Whenever there was a gold rush in the US (or anywhere actually), folks, well rushed, to where the gold was sure that their fortune was going to be made in the hills or streams, mining for that precious gold. The truth is, though, the folks who TRULY got rich were those who didn't do the digging, but the ones who sold them the shovels.
That's what I do. My 'chanter is also my bank alt, so I don't get rare drops or faction recipes from him. Instead, I simply disenchant cheap greens and blues on the AH and sell them off to the highest bidder. It's much simpler and a more consistent income for me than researching which 'chants holy pallys need on the wrists or what the hot tanking chant for boots is.
Jul 29th 2011 2:46PM While I do keep an eye on trade sales, I get most of my 'buy lows' from the AH itself. I have my snatch list set to most trade goods (the leathers, dusts, essences, cloths, etc.) at ~50% the 'normal' price (the100% price according to auctioneer). I get a consistent supply of goods that I can repost at the higher price. Doing this gives me a steady income and keeps the prices stable.
Even better, this helps me take advantage of extreme price drops (typically caused by bots). This lets me stock up on various products and sell them back over time.
Jul 29th 2011 2:14PM When I level casters, I frequently shift between using a staff and using a 1H/OH combo. Is there an add-on that compares the staff stats vs the *combined* stats of the 1h/OH? What I see (and sadly I forget which add-on that is) now is simply a comp of the staff vs only the 1h, which isn't very helpful.
Jul 19th 2011 5:50PM NW bags are so popular because they're so cheap. On my realm they sell for ~20g. To get that extra 4 slots for frostweave, you have to spend 150g. Who wants to spend 30g per bag slot? And embersilk bags are ~300g. 100/bag slot? Sheesh. My main is a druid with all the separate gear sets that entails, but I haven't (and won't) spend that type of gold on a few extra bag slots. There have been plenty of world drops (OS, etc) to gear me up.
Anyway, the key to making gold in any profession is keeping track of costs. For tailoring, that basically boils down to breaking down your items into cost/stack.
The easiest example is NW bags. They take four bolts to make and each bolt takes 5 cloth, so a stack of 20 = 1 bag. I just love that simplicity - the price of the stack is the price of the bag, no more multiplying or other calculations.
Most other bags have other components that mess up your calculations - infinite or hypnotic dusts or leather. It's still doable, but set the price you're willing to pay for cloth accordingly and stick to it.
Embersilk bags take 15(!) bolts of cloth (at 5 pieces each). 5*15=75, or almost 4 stacks each. On my realm, the cloth sells for ~2g each, meaning 150g. Hypnotic dusts sell for 5-6g each (yes, still) or another 90g. So all told, I need to sell my bags for more than 250g to make a profit. Right now, they sell for around 280-300 which isn't bad, but it's not a fast moving market, so I only sell 1-2 a week if I have them to sell.
