Jun 15th 2011 12:08PM I can't remember ever being more frustrated with playing my Boomkin. I work my rear end off every night, but inevitably something causes my timing to be thrown off or procs to be lost. It's ridiculously hard to play the spec as it stands now and I want to bash kittens when other Boomkins are beating me by 5k+ DPS. For them, it comes so naturally. For me, it's a struggle. I've watched videos, read fight-specific strats, had my own videos analyzed, etc. Nothing is helping. It's a hurdle I feel that I'll never make it over. After playing a Boomkin since Vanilla, I'm considering throwing in the WoW towel altogether. Nothing is as disheartening as sucking at something you loved so much.
I've posted a link to this article on my guild forums on the off chance that people might start to understand just how difficult playing that doofy looking bird has become.

May 10th 2010 9:48AM Dear Blizzard Entertainment,
In light of the proposed changes to the raid system in Cataclysm, I humbly request that the hybrid tax be removed.
It has always been my understanding that certain classes are penalized this "hybrid tax" simply because we are able to easily change specs to take on different roles. The new Cataclysm raid system will hamper our ability to do so by limiting the gearing of those off-specs. More than a few of us are brought to raids because of our ability to fill multiple roles during a single lockout. I, for instance, Boomkin and Tank in many of our 10- and 25-man raids. As my off-spec gear becomes further and further out of date, my guild will find fewer and fewer reasons to bring me. I lose that versatility for which I am being taxed.
Reverse the hybrid tax so we can be keep our raid spots.
May 7th 2010 9:23AM "...every class has a spec that is within 10% of the top DPS"
I'm so sick of comments like this. Not every class can just switch spec and magically top the meters, nor should we be expected to. Switching from Arcane to Fire might be doable, but try to turn a Boomkin into a Feral Kitty. It's not just a matter of switching out some gems/enchants. It's a completely different set of gear and a dramatically different playstyle.
I don't see the logic that if a class has 1 good DPS spec, the other specs aren't important and can be written off. Just because I don't like Feral Kitty DPS, doesn't mean I shouldn't do comparable DPS as a Boomkin. We're both in the same hybrid boat, aren't we?
Feb 15th 2010 8:35AM Pretty sure I'll be hanging onto my [Moist Towelette] and [Dark Iron Baby Booties] for awhile longer.
Jan 28th 2010 3:00PM Except...
Good cloth piece gets reforged into awesome piece.
Crappy leather piece gets reforged into good piece.
I don't expect Blizz to start consistently itemizing for Boomkins. There will always be the perfect cloth piece for a given slot and Boomkins will always get stuck trying to make do with Resto pieces.
Reforging is just band-aid fix to our itemization problems.
