@ Qrmack: I'll remember that the next time you pull a mob you shouldn't have. :-P

The Care and Feeding of Warriors: Stat stacking for tanks {WoW}

Dec 18th 2010 3:27PM As a Tank since the middle of BC, the Threat/Mitigation/Effective Health battle has been one that I have had to do a lot of research on. In dungeon heroic gear, it seams like the average HP for a tank will be somewhere between 130K and 140K depending on trinkets and class. I think that threat is going to be easier this expansion that it was at the end of the last expansion. Between the increase in basic threat on our abilities and the scaling of vengeance with gear, it shouldn't be something that we have to work overly hard at. Hit cap, Expertise cap, and a modicum of strength should be enough.

The worry I have is being able to get enough avoidance. Right now, the dodge/parry chance seems a little low to me. 12% rather than the 15% that it was at during the start of Wrath. Since strength is helping to add to our parry chance in some cases; and since the Parry stat now has the same weight as the dodge weight, stacking them in gems/enchants should be more effective than stacking Stam.

I figure that the more physical attacks that I negate, the better off my healer will be when the giant unavoidable death ray of doom hits me, it won't mean I am at 40% HP when I get hit but 60% or 70%.

What I would like to see is the tank AoE be just a little bit stronger. I can hold the main mob I am tanking with no issue, but if a DPS has a splash effect like fire/frost mages for example, it seems like I am constantly having to rescue them from certain doom. Tab targeting is only effective if the DPS isn't hot enough that my 2-3 GCDs off the main target won't drop my aggro. I have no issue with the DPS taking it in the face if they target and nuke the wrong mob, but if their spells or attacks can't help but hit an additional mob, I don't want that to count against them and I don't want to have to chase it.

Breakfast Topic: Healers, are you anxious about Cataclysm content? {WoW}

Dec 11th 2010 11:32AM As a tank, I have noticed that the best DPS players right now tend to be those who were only casual players in Wrath. They listen more, QQ less, and don't pull without being told. True, some have to be told which tree the sheep spell is under, but that is fine by me as long as they use it.

The best healers are the ones who have no issue letting a DPS die if the DPS did something stupid. For that matter, I tell every healer that if I pull too much, save themselves and let me die. I will hold them off for as long as I can.

These giant health pools are deceptive. People used to only having 21k-30k HP see 111k and think they are invincible even though their dmg hasn't really increased much and neither has the healing. Few have even progressed out of the quest greens or blues. Many still have wrath level gear on and think it is fine.

Eventually (when the xpac has been out longer than a week) I think we will see healing become easier as the DPS realizes that they will get kicked from groups or be poor from wipes. Tanks will have more Dodge/Parry/Block than they do now and won't take nearly as much DMG. I know that I used to have closer to 25% Dodge, 18% Parry, and about 25ish% block. Now I am sitting at 10% dodge if I am lucky, 12% parry, and 38% block. Block only stops %40 DMG on a pally tank and less on a warrior. So the lack of gear is the final piece of the puzzle I think to things getting normalized.

I would like to see people's thoughts on healing in a month from now when more of the casuals have hit 85 and gear is closer to the 350 mark than the 331 mark.

Sep 4th 2010 3:20PM The reason why you keep getting it is because elitest newbs just leave meaning it goes to the front of the queue faster than the others. Stop leaving and the spread will be more even.

WRUP: Playing favorites {WoW}

Aug 21st 2010 2:25PM I'm not in the Beta, but my favorite zone has to be Eversong Woods and the Ghostlands. They way the Belf starting area was designed was really awesome and I love the quests.

I will be working on alts. Bet a friend I can get a brand new pally to 80 before they can hit hit 80 on their 70 Druid. So far I'm winning.

I will also be raiding LK 10M with the guild going for 12/12 on normal. Those cursed defiles!
