Though I'm kidding. I realize that all legal jargon could be replaced with "marklar" and few would notice the difference as far as getting an understanding goes. Interesting read indeed.
Jan 1st 2009 10:54PM Northrend has been interesting. The part in this article that I liked the most is "this patch introduced so many changes to the shaman class that it was difficult to make heads or tails of them all."
I had to relearn my class so to speak. There were so many changes there. Anyway, I'm glad to see a sense of contentment coming back to the class. There's something about the truest shaman players. We all have similar frustrations and teeth pulling grievances with things from level 1 to 70 but we endured them. While many others were screaming "reroll" we may have thrown that word around but never so seriously. We stuck with it until we saw changes. We used our utilities to create work arounds to reach goals we set.
It takes a certain kind of person to roll a shaman and stay through all of our 'gimp-dom'. Now we're coming around and to me there's a sense of reward for all that we put up with.

Can I add a third reason. - People are STUPID. I work for a major company that regularly sends out communications to it's employees. In one process I created a web page and sinnically used BIG BOLD RAINBOW COLORS for a few simple easy comprehensible messages and to this day not only do people overlook it, they still have questions.
It's sad but people, namely the general public, are pretty dumb. Naive. Oblivious. Or if they are somewhat aware, they always gamble with each opportunity. The ratinonale: If I don't get hacked, I'll obtain something.
What is the appeal of risk taking? "It won't happen to me." So I take Blizz's notifications of someone saying, "Hey, don't be stupid. No. Really. Don't be stupid. - This message is intended and purposed for morons wherever they may be."
I take risks *cough Curse.gaming*. And, subsequently, if I get hacked sometime soon it'll be my own damn fault. Not Blizzard's.

Dec 29th 2008 9:58PM For about 2 years now I've conceptualized a Race for the Cure kind of event for Warcraft. I've always blown it off because a majority of the people I encounter online are jerks and probably wouldn't participate but adding incentive seems like there could be somekind of payoff.
I don't think there would be any possible way to track it but with the Leukemia give-away (that sounds bad - 'come get your free Leukemia!)... with the success of the fund raiser for the Leukemia Society, do you think there is a potential for a few more of those kind of ideas?
Dec 15th 2008 9:28PM Awesome. I applaud. I take interest in the individual that asked for the customer's name. I immediately locked on to that. This whole time I've been thinking about strangers that this has happened to and how I've responded to them. I've sold shards to give them the money and saying "be careful next time", I've added them to my friends list and farmed alongside them turning over what looted items I could.
I know how people in the game are such jerks. Sure it's just game money. But the time that one puts into game items they deem worthwhile shouldn't be exploited. That's what I respond to. That's my character in life and in warcraft. Customer's character and Blacksmith's character are also apparent so with that holding true, it IS a worthwhile discussion because this isn't about the game but the nature of the people involved and the fairness of it all.
This seems to be a theme for my week. The exact same concept in game has been happening all around me in the real lives of others. Wal-Mart horror stories, unfortunate accidents, and all other kinds of cheap deals centering around the misfortune of others.
People don't realize how the negativity from people in game actually impact the way a person plays and responds to others within it.

Oct 1st 2008 10:03PM I remember discussing this quite a bit from a healer perspective. There are several ways to consolidate totems that makes the most sense without changing the balance of things in the game the least bit.
Some you've already mentioned but I'll repeat or add on to them. Starting in the order that we've learned - Earth, Fire, Water, then Wind:

Sep 12th 2008 11:20PM I'd have to say that the idea of cross-faction communication and grouping would be AWESOME.
The argument against is well understood but in the environment that they created and with the story (in my eyes) coming to some kind of a close, I think that allowing Horde and Alliance to team up against the common threat would be like filling in a void.
That's one thing that I wouldn't mind going all out for no matter how ridiculous the quest line. It's like becoming an in game diplomat. I'd get a bigger kick out of that than anything else. It would add a different spin on things that could have a huge appeal to those of us that find more interest in the "World" of Warcraft than we do the lore of it all.
Two sides being at odds shouldn't mean that those willing to learn about the other should be prevented. Besides, I keep thinking of some old teachings where "knowing your enemy" became a repetitious cliche.
