Why do people keep repeating this fallacy? If you're tasked to write about tanking mechanics, at least be aware of what changed with Cataclysm.
Until the end of WotLK, parry was an avoidance stat - that melee attack didn't hit you at all.
As of Cataclysm, parry is a mitigation stat. It causes the next two melee attacks to do only 50% damage.
Jun 11th 2009 5:18PM To be fair, only zero-sum DKP systems prevent you from giving points for effort.
In standard merit-based DKP, you can award points for anything, and systems that reward both time spent and progression made are very common.
