Sep 25th 2011 5:02PM @(Unverified) On the other hand if Valve put out a game about picking up dog poop off the sidewalk it'd probably end up being triple-A calibre.
Sep 20th 2011 8:10PM @AntiVillian While I agree this is neat, I think there motives may be less pure than you hope. AFAIK Firefall is going to be free-to-play. They have to make money somewhere... cute vanity things seemed to work for TF2, maybe it'll work for Firefall too.
Sep 11th 2011 7:21PM @Kresh Yeah, damn that government for providing education, health care, emergency services, protection for the poor, sick and elderly, and more.
Thank god they're not spending an equal amount of money fighting multiple wars on foreign soils.
Sep 8th 2011 7:29PM @Michelobius I agree. It's a good idea, and I'm sure there are fun levels out there, but I played some 25 or so UGCs to get trophies and there was maybe one or two relatively fun ones, even when sorting for "popular" or "featured" UGC.

Aug 29th 2011 4:13PM @(Unverified) Yeah, someone who's won multiple Hugos (in fact the ONLY writer to ever win both the Hugo and Nebula in consecutive years) is clearly a bad writer.
You might dislike him as a person, you might even dislike him as a writer, but the opinions of those that care most about science fiction writing would disagree with you.
Aug 22nd 2011 9:26PM @wcarnation I'm still confused as to why everyone seems to KNOW this game will be amazing.
Don't get me wrong, I have it pre-ordered and I'm stoked to play it; but I've been disappointed once already (by Invisible War). I'm not going to get my hopes too high until I am sitting down playing this game.
Aug 21st 2011 2:03AM @ll features ll As someone who has watched games at the competitive level in both games quite a bit, I think both have promise. (speaking of the original DotA more so than DotA 2, since it's so new)
The main difference I see is that SC2 has a much longer history of professional casting along with much money in the system.
Valve kickstarting DotA 2 esports with so much cash is a great idea. If they can get casters and events on the same level as SC2 can pull in they have a good chance of becoming a real esports force.
(for the record I prefer pro SC2, but I'm excited to see what can happen with DotA 2)
Aug 5th 2011 10:06PM @PoisonedAl While I'm all for getting charities and indie developers their due, a large part of the greatness of this pack IS the pay what you want model. Every download, even the penny ones, add to publicity and mark download numbers that they can show to investors.
How many of those people who bought the game for a penny showed their friends who may have actually payed for it?
