Mike Morhaime: Real names will not be required on official Blizzard forums {WoW}

Jul 9th 2010 2:08PM I do not have the text anymore because the post was deleted.

I made a comparison and and a link to a reputable news story about China requiring citizens to reveal their real names in blog posts.

Now that I have googled for the news story I now see that me posting here http://tinyurl.com/3448mxj (half way down - look for happy cat) has lead to blogs making the connection as well. http://tinyurl.com/37escvt

I believe the connection is worthy of conversation given the fact that China is the largest market for WoW. Blizzard disagreed and banned me after one post.

Mike Morhaime: Real names will not be required on official Blizzard forums {WoW}

Jul 9th 2010 1:12PM If every voice mattered then I would not be temp banned from the official forums.

You guys tried to silence dissenting voices and in retaliation numerous people canceled their accounts (even temporarily).

Every dollar matters to Blizzard, not every voice.

Rumor: Blizzard employees' real life names will not appear on the Real ID forums [Updated] {WoW}

Jul 7th 2010 4:31PM Yes. I think I would be at just as much risk.

If some slob is batshit crazy enough to harass a CM over a pally nerf, they are crazy enough to harass me for asking a "omgnub qq moar" question.

Rumor: Blizzard employees' real life names will not appear on the Real ID forums [Updated] {WoW}

Jul 7th 2010 4:29PM Do what I did.

For now, cancel your account. Send them a message.

If they make a change to Real ID resubscribe.

Heck, cancel now and resubscribe as soon as soon as the month is up.

Breakfast Topic: Real ID or Real bad IDea? {WoW}

Jul 7th 2010 9:10AM I was temp banned from the official forums for pointing out that in China it will soon be mandatory to link your real name to forum posts.

Apparently, this post was trolling and is a great example of why everyone in the world would need to know (forever) who I am and what I was doing at 2:21 pm on July 6, 2010

Blizzard's responses on the Real ID situation {WoW}

Jul 6th 2010 11:21PM I cancelled my subscription an hour ago.

If they make the appropriate changes, I will start giving them my money again.

Security flaw allows addons to expose full real life names without user permission {WoW}

Jul 6th 2010 4:49PM Hey!

Blizz announces this policy one month after China set in motion similar plans.

If it is good enough for communists, it is good enough for us!

Battle.net Real ID preview and FAQ {WoW}

May 5th 2010 4:47PM OMG he knows my name and I accepted his friend request so he knows in fact who I am.

We are more concerned with wankers hitting us up for help when we would rather be grinding for gold.

Fight your own raids, Bosnia!

Wait, what?

Battle.net Real ID preview and FAQ {WoW}

May 5th 2010 4:32PM Wait...

I will have to "out" the alts I use to troll the official forums? lol.

No way will I be using Real ID. I could see the benefit IF I could opt out some of my characters.

Aside from trolling, I do like to play AND be left alone by people I know in real life when I am not raiding.

Implementation fail.
