Feb 8th 2010 1:54PM I remember when 3.3 was announced, it was said that there would be a raid wide buff which would increase damage done, healing done, and total health (similar to the random dungeon buff) which would become more powerful as people started progressing farther and farther into Icecrown Citadel. I was wondering if anyone knew when this buff was going to be activated.
Jan 31st 2010 12:11AM I understand that it doesn't give him the right to give the healer a bunch of crap, but did anyone mention to him that being nice goes a long way?
I was in a regular UK leveling my resto shaman and we had a balance druid who was 3 levels higher than the tank. Druid was telling the tank he sucked cause he couldn't hold aggro. We pointed out that he was 3 levels higher than the tank and that watching your aggro will help not only the tank and me (healer), it will also help his repair bill. At that point he was very nice and apologized for his actions.
Combat stupidity with politeness and knowledge. Don't kill your enemies, outsmart them.
Jan 30th 2010 1:49PM Honestly, you both sound like jerks.
He was a little more of a jerk, but you aren't much better.
Now, I'm not here to just say "You suck!" and run away. Here is my reasoning.
Ok, so it sounds like you and the rest of the group tried to help in at the very beginning, which is great! -1 jerk point.
Now he makes a bad pull, did anyone tell him what he did wrong or how to make it better? I'm assuming no. I assume no because of the way you are upset about every mistake he made and, when people are upset about "bads" they usually forget to state what THEY did wrong.
It sounds like, while you were on the side of the healer, which most veteran tanks will automaticlly take a healers side if there is a "bad" tank, keep in mind that at YOUR gear level, it's going to be ALOT easier for an iLevel200 holy pally to keep you alive.
Back to the tank, sounds like you are giving him crap for not knowing how the first boss fight works. Did anyone explain it to him? Did anyone ask if he knew the fight? I bet he got the achievement for that place upon completion.
You KNEW he wasn't experienced with that instance the moment he told you he didn't know the instance. Chances are he didn't know much about tanking either the way you say "the answer he was actually hoping for was that someone else would tank, because he clearly had no idea what he was doing, period.".
You all pressured him into tanking even though he OFFERED to drop. You, as an experienced tank, know that the pulls can suck with all the casters and that the groups usually stay spread out for the entire fight. I doubt this was explained to him either.
As far as the LoS issue, yes he should have known what LoS is, BUT for a non-experienced tank and somone who hasn't done the place before, sometimes you don't know about the ramps causing LoS issues.
It also sounds like nobody explained how the Spectral Warders worked of about that debuff you get.
There' A LOT I can point out at you for you being a jerk from your post. The main thing is that your rant run you posted about seems just like any other run that people complain about. YOU and everyone else in the group were perfect and ONE person (the tank) caused it to be horrible.
Now, IF (and this is a BIG IF) you actually were this perfect model of a player who did help him in everyway possible and he was still a jerk, then you were justified...for the most part anyway. Just remember, two wrongs DO NOT make a right.
Just because he is a jerk, doesn't mean you have to be.
"Hey, I'm gonna switch to tank for this fight. Take notes for the future and please don't taunt off of me. Everyone ready?"
Jan 25th 2010 8:17AM I'm usually the first one to reassure everyone in the raid that we're doing a good job. It could be our 2nd wipe on Marrowgar or our 5 attempt on Saurfang. As raid leader I always make sure people stay excited and committed to the raid.
Usually it's as simple as saying "Alright, we'll get it this time guys!", that's all it takes is for one positive voice to make people want to keep going.
Jan 23rd 2010 2:48PM Another good one is back in the days before the random cross server LFD tool, we grouped with a pugger for a heroic H UK.
Upon killing Ingvar (I think that's the last boss in there >.
Jan 23rd 2010 2:42PM My guild has a running joke with our youngest member. Started a while ago and I can't remember what it was that started it, but I ended up stating that he skipped the 7th grade. Now, whenever he does something wrong, we say something to the effect of "they must have taught that in the 7th grade".
Example: A few weeks ago on his mage, he hit Blink on accident during Lord Marrowgar and ended up blinking into the cleave. We all laughed and said "they teach you that "cleave" is bad in 7th grade", which he replies "at least I didn't taunt Ony towards the raid and wipe it" (which I'm guilty of...), so I respond, "Yeah, because you know ALL about taunting at a bad time!" (Which is a reference to when he taunted one of the mini bosses right before a tank throw back in Naxx on Thaddius)
It's all in fun and we have a great fun time raiding.
Dec 4th 2009 8:37PM Raid = Team.
You don't have to remember the anniversary.
Oct 15th 2009 1:53PM The no lowbie raid will kinda mess with something I've done on occasion.
Sometimes when I'mwanting to go back and solo a raid instance, I'll create a trial account via RAF (so we can form a party/raid) and then I'll just go in that way.
