Apr 12th 2010 4:16AM This is what I imagine with frost:
As you stand and cast, you gain a stacking buff that will increase the damage on other spells. You might turn and cast... frostfire bolt? Certainly some arcane missiles, at least.
In PvP you have the same damage potential, but no one is going to let your frost mageness sit and cast. PvP is balanced by the need to move and cast controlling spells, which limits your ability to get a lot of stacks. If you've been moving for __ seconds, you might lose the buff altogether.
In my vision, frost does excellent damage in PvE, and while it has the same damage POTENTIAL in PvP, the ACTUAL damage output would be lower than other specs due to the factors I've described above.
But hell, it's probably nothing like that.
Mar 7th 2010 5:48AM Thomas,
You laid out a logical argument that left almost no room for debate. I was going to post this same thought, but you said it as well as anyone could have.
It's the same deal for gear. Sure, a great mage in blues and greens could beat a terrible mage in epics, but you don't bring a mage in blues and greens to kill the Lich King, regardless of how much skill he/she has.
Give a good mage a good spec and good gear, and he's that much better. There's no need to cripple our DPS in the name of originality.
I do think that Christian has a point in mentioning frost's survivability. I know that my well-geared mage still likes to die first on Stinky :)
Jan 12th 2010 5:30AM I agree that that we should understand the limitation on some players' time. For that reason, I always suggest skipping all the bosses my group can. This is much more efficient in terms of badges per minute.
Jan 12th 2010 5:22AM Do you even know who Ayn Rand is? Who are you talking to? I don't see anyone advocating doing things in his/her rational self interest.
Either you're in the wrong thread or you're an idiot.
Jan 10th 2010 12:41PM Luminousnerd reached the point where people just didn't want to hear from him anymore, and they had plenty of reasons for that. No one wants to listen to a troll, even if he's sowwy :(
As for the warrior nerf, I'm sad... and relieved... but mostly sad. I don't play a warrior (yet), but we have a warrior tank. I love that he can do all his charging and breaking free.
On the other hand, my fights with prot warriors were amazingly frustrating when I was playing a caster. Casters only have a set number of ways to get away. Smart prot warriors are among the hardest players to keep away - they're right up there with rogues in that regard.
Anyway, the caster vs. prot fight was a real hard one to win, especially if the warrior knew when to spell reflect. Hint: very few did.
But don't nerf my raid tank! I'm with the guy who said we should separate arenas from the rest of the game. It's even harmed arena players, because the community is so competitive and hyper-sensitive to class balance. They're even more picky than damage dealers who aren't happy with being 200 DPS away from the top.
Jan 10th 2010 12:14PM Wow, I am surprised to have read so many mature comments. I was expecting a thread full of posts like "Blizzard has totally ruined my game. It's not fun for me anymore because I will lose 5% damage."
I'm glad to hear there are people out there who are actually PLAYING this game.
