Lichborne: The new blood tree in Cataclysm {WoW}

Jul 6th 2010 8:39PM Here is what I think would make a solid DK tanking spec as of the current beta build:

http://www.wowtal.com/#k=3NjI45DFUQc.9i7.deathknight

I have 12 free floating points currently, but as you can see I find both Virulence and Epidemic to be excellent talents to take for both DPS and Tanking DKs. My two complaints are 1) Morbidity is too far down in the Unholy tree, 30 second DnDs are not fun even if AoE is put on a much lower emphasis in Cata 2) There are not enough interesting talents past Virulence and Epidemic for tanks to take.

For threat purposes you could put 3 points in Ravenous Dead for the 3% passive Strength buff, 2 points in Unholy Command for the Death Grip which would unlock Unholy Frenzy to use as a raid buff. I'd be interested in seeing On A Pale Horse and Morbidity be more easily unlocked in Cata and traded up the tree with Unholy Frenzy and Necrosis. If I could "play God" I think that's where I might go with the tree.

Lichborne: The new blood tree in Cataclysm {WoW}

Jul 6th 2010 6:45PM I don't find the focus on Blood Boil in the Blood tree to be surprising at all. While AoE tanking is being de-emphasized in Cata that doesn't mean there will be *no* AoE tanking ever. When you over gear content tight CC isn't necessary anymore. What Blood lacked in Wrath was a solid AoE component for fights with more than 3 adds (Heartstrike hits up to 3). The BB boosts in the tree will help make up for that weakness.

It'd be like stripping Warriors of all their AoE simply because "AoE is being de-emphasized in Cata".

Jul 6th 2010 4:21PM Which addons are the broken ones? Wouldn't that have been the really really important news to publish?

Wrath Retrospective: Ulduar {WoW}

Jun 11th 2010 7:04PM Ulduar will easily top the list of best raid of the Wrath cycle (Unless Ruby Sanctums one boss wonder is somehow mind blowing... Doubtful). It had everything we liked from classic and BC raiding while topping the few things we liked from Wrath release raiding.

It had the mystery, it had lore, it had epic boss fights, and hard modes that were well designed. The HM's weren't just "Flick a switch" or "Enter a different instance" they gave you control over *if* you wanted to do them while radically altering the fight mechanics (most of the time). My favorite HM to this day is the Iron Council "I Choose You, Steelbreaker".

Vanilla best raid: AQ
BC best raid: Karazhan
Wrath best raid: Ulduar
