Breakfast Topic: WoW Mad Libs {WoW}

Is PvP gear good enough for heroics? {WoW}

Mar 6th 2012 9:29AM When one of my toons hits 85, I craft them a full set of pvp gear, snag 397 boots and bracers from the AH, craft a neck and ring and I'm good to go. I dislike very much tediously gearing up through heroics, then ZA/ZG, then the new heroics. I want to just pop in. I have never had anybody say anything about heading into the new twilight heroics with pvp gear. My goal is to replace them all quckly.
I really don't think it's that big of a deal.

Breakfast Topic: What was your first world drop epic? {WoW}

Elemental Mage Staff. I was grinding scourgestones at Browman's Mill on my second toon, and I wasn't really paying attention to the stuff I was looting. Later when I was selling I saw this purple staff in my bags and I about fainted, I didn't even have any purples on my main (this was wayyyyy back in vanilla), and I had several offers from guildmates to buy it but I sent it to my mage. She carried it through the portal quite proudly and then about fainted AGAIN when one of the very first quests in Hellfire got her http://www.wowhead.com/item=29910 the Staff of Twin Worlds.
At that time, the elemental mage staff didn't have intellect on it if I recall rightly, just 2 types of spellpower. I was shocked to trade in my PURPLE for a GREEN. As was everyone.
Funny how you just always remember little stuff like this.

Breakfast Topic: How did you get started? {WoW}

Feb 3rd 2012 11:28AM I bought City of Heroes for my son and was HORRIFIED to discover I had to pay every month to play a game I had already bought! That was when I was introduced to time cards and the whole online gaming community. I quickly became hooked on CoH, loving how I was playing with real people. A new friend I had at the time was playing WoW and could only talk about WoW. She came over one time and I had her make a character on CoH but still, all she could talk about was how much WoW was better. So FINALLY she brought some discs over and we installed WoW and promptly had to go out and get a better video card. Oh, at the time I had 256 megs of ram. Started up WoW and incredible how quickly CoH fell to the wayside.
I remember flying into Lagforge--ahem Ironforge, and it was basically a slide show. I couldn't even MOVE for about 5 minutes, waiting for everything to load. And if I got DC'd there? Oh man, trying to log in was agony! My friend suggested I get more ram so I got 256 more megs and WOWOW What a difference that made! Haha I play now with 16 gigs of ram and remembering back it is so laughable. I refused to play Horde at first, even though my friend was undead and told me if I played on her server she would help me out with bags and gold. I thought they were so ugly. So I made lots of pretty toons, my first a night elf druid, lots of humans, all with pretty names like
Camille and Allasandra haha! Then I gave into her BADGERING and made a troll mage and that was it, I was Horde for life baby. Remember back then, when horde ruled the battlegrounds and little kids played alliance and the grownups played Horde?
Thus began a journey that I will always remember. I am so glad I started playing during vanilla, and got to experience opening the gates of Ahn'Qiraj, the introduction of weather, the agony of buying my first epic mount (the week before BC came out, I grinded at Tyr's Hand religiously and I still remember the pride of being one of the few people with an epic mount in AV, pulling ahead of all the others, man it was so worth it!), getting attuned for mc, bwl, ony, getting my cape for ony!!! Oh I have such good memories of it all! Loved it then, Love it now, have 3 full servers of toons, both sides even though my heart is firmly fixed on the Horde side. I just wanted to see what the endgame was like from the other side, you know? I now have 8 85's, I have all professions maxed except blacksmithing but I am leveling that with my first ever warrior who is now level 40, funny that I never leveled one before. Several of my toons all have vanilla titles, my highest is blood guard. My rule is if they have an old pvp title, they never get deleted. I recently picked up an old undead priest named Martymcfly, he was level 26, and boy do I get the comments on him! I even made a macro to explain WHERE he got his Scout title and HOW did he get it! He's level 50 now. I even have a Docbrown and a Bifftannen floating around too.
I used to play with my husband, 2 sons, and daughter. We had 5 accounts and would do instances together. Now I'm the only one left, they have all moved on to other things. My nephew in college plays, and how fun to have this in common!
WoW has given me so much fun, memories, and friends from all over the world. Love those Aussie accents!! So glad I play.
Thanks for this topic, I'm enjoying reading everyone else's story. See you ingame!

Jan 30th 2012 12:48AM When I snag coins for the lunar festival I read that I gain reputation with the Horde but I don't know what that means: nothing changes on my rep panel, is there some mysterious 'horde' reputation? Very weird.
I ran around and got enough coins to get a lantern pet and not one of my horde faction rep bars changed in the slightest.
That kitten is adorable.

Jan 20th 2012 11:07AM I love reading interviews like this. At 50, I am the oldest woman I know who plays this game, and I've played it since shortly after launch. Kudos to you, Martha, and all the others responding to this post. See you ingame!
