Oct 20th 2011 1:36AM @Marz : You don't 'please' the player base by downsizing the people who have the job of listening to the player base.
You downsize the jobs you feel you can do without. By removing those who deal directly with their customers... well... they certainly aren't planning on dealing with their customers, right?
Oct 19th 2011 3:09PM Massively : company focusing on EVE
That's turning into a rather big lie.. and more PR words. CCP has apparently axed their entire community support team.
So... not so much focusing on Eve Online, perhaps more axing the folks who actually try to calm down the community and report back when the community is upset.
This isn't a good cause for optimism.
Oct 19th 2011 2:29PM @Snichy : If EVE is going so strong and development on WoD is spreading them so thin, you hire MORE staff to pick up the slack, not get rid of people. Clearly it is worse than they are making out which is ominous for the future.
Of course it's more ominous. They're just hiding it behind PR words. CCP has a pretty hefty loan due this month, and they've been bleeding sub accounts from Eve Online for the past two years. The company isn't closing, but no one lays off 20% of their workforce when times aren't bad.
Oct 19th 2011 11:21AM Really unfortunate that a string of bad management decisions would affect the employee's on the ground floor, but sadly that's the way of the world.
Condolences to all of the CCP staff that have lost jobs, this close to the holiday season and with the current unemployment numbers being so high it's a horrible blow. Doubly so when, for the WoD staff, their job losses aren't their fault.
Oct 15th 2011 9:24PM It's in the minutes from the last CSM summit. The CSM pointed out that prior to Incarna player's used to be able to triple box Eve Online, but now they're unable to.
CCP responded with "there has not been any official multi-client support for Eve"
I could quote the entire spiel from the minutes for more context, but the published PDF is horribad and cannot be copy and pasted without some serious retyping.
Regardless of how the account is paid for, SOMEONE pays for it... but if you can't triple box, why would you keep three accounts running?
Oct 14th 2011 9:30PM @(Unverified) : CCP is creating a Vampire LARP like game which will use Eve's Avatar engine so they are also forcing Eve players to be BETA ( well more like ALPHA ) testers while they are paying a monthly subscription
Correct, CCP dev's admitted after the fact that the captain's quaters were simply a prep step for WoD.
Oct 14th 2011 8:00PM @Abriael : Probably the most pointless and childish complaint a developer ever caved to.
Funny thing, the CEO of the company himself had to come out and publicly apologize for removing it.
Oct 14th 2011 7:58PM @ Scottish Viking : That is an extreme way to phrase `they wanted to implement a new technology.` I am extremely sympathetic to them in this case. EVE is an old, old game, but it has survived partly because it has consistently updated its look and feel.
Totally incorrect. Before many people dual- and triple-boxed Eve. After CCP released their new graphics engine they basically had to come out and flat-out state they could no longer support multi-boxing of any kind. CCP themselves admitted it. Which means a LOT of their customers suddenly no longer had any reason to pay CCP extra money for those extra accounts. Costing CCP money, immediately. For no better reason than a shiny graphics update.
Further, it's more than simply 'the lowest-end computers', the new hangar replacement was released with MANY features missing. CCP not only introduced something new, they totally forgot to introduce a replacement for many of the features they removed.
Oct 14th 2011 1:51AM @Boardwalker : Imagine my surprise when two of the other 46k people that were on decided to pew pew my Thorax.
46,000 people online? Guess you haven't logged into Eve for several months. The numbers haven't been that high for a LONG time. gg tho.
Oct 13th 2011 9:10PM Agreed, CCP has done absolutely nothing to fufill those lofty promises. They're just hoping to pump up the subs #'s based off empty words.
Re-sub if you want, but you'll be going back to exactly what you quit from in the first place. At the very least wait until they DO something.
