Breakfast Topic: Does WoW ever creep you out? {WoW}

May 19th 2011 8:47AM Any occurence of dark water. I remember running into a hammerhead back in vanilla when I was trying to get my aquatic form quest done; it was exceptionally startling (and it smoked me).

15 Minutes of Fame: A World of Warcraft love story, Part 2 {WoW}

Aug 5th 2009 9:54PM I actually met my now-husband in game in 2007. It's always an interesting story trying to explain to non-gamers how (and where!) we met.

Shifting Perspectives: An Ulduar class preview, part 2 {WoW}

Apr 22nd 2009 9:16AM Exactly. Cats can essentially sit there and DPS the Deconstructor the entire time, and they'll do a ridiculous amount of damage as well.

It's also worth nothing that you can't actually get behind Kologarn and his arms, so if you're a kitten DPSing, you need to adopt a slightly different strategy.

The Queue: Slack-jawed daffodils {WoW}

Jan 27th 2009 8:37PM Let's try this again, because apparently my first comment got deleted accidentally.

All of Allison's suggestions for Actodd are very muchly appropriate, but she leaves out an entire class of weapons: 2-Handed Maces. If Actodd is looking for an entry-level DPS weapon, I'd actually suggest picking up a Titansteel Destroyer. It's crafted, it's got a little more AP than the Staff of Trickery, and for what it's lacking in Critical Strike, it more than makes up for in Hit Rating.

Additionally, some of the 2-Handed Mace drops in Naxxramas cannot simply be skimmed over, especially for DPSing. Check out Demise, The Jawbone, and (this one you'd really want to pick up, if you were lucky enough) Inevitable Defeat. The 2-Handed Maces tend to be lacking in AGI/Critical Strike (though not entirely) as compared to the Polearms and Staves, but the STR will be multiplied by Kings (which is super) and the Expertise is superior for both DPS purposes AND for tanking.

I did an extensive write up about Cat weaponry at Unbearably HoT:

The title is just a gag. Hope this helps (and stays posted this time).

Jan 27th 2009 4:04PM It depends on what you're looking to do with said staff. If you're looking to DPS and you can't get the Staff of Trickery to drop, you have some other options in the worlds of polearms and two-handed maces. In fact, if you're not hit-capped (or if this would allow you to drop a piece of high hit gear), I'd recommend picking up a Titansteel Destroyer, a two-handed craftable mace.

For tanking, that rep staff isn't ideal, but it's definitely not bad. Try running Heroic UK for the Enraged Feral Staff, which Allison does suggest.

1-60 in 20 minutes {WoW}

Sep 1st 2008 3:01PM And it's a LOT of money. Close to $260, in fact, if you have two people both looking to grant 30 levels to one another AND get the Zhevra mount.

Druid changes in 8885 {WoW}

Aug 30th 2008 2:17PM Of course, if we're counted as a party member, then it'd bring the total damage reduction to 15% for a full party, but that's still not 20%.

Druid changes in 8885 {WoW}

Aug 30th 2008 1:48PM Where are you getting the 20% damage reduction from? Mother Bear provides, at best, a 12% damage reduction if you have four other people in your party.

Additionally, you might want to take the typo out of Natural Reaction (or add a [sic]), even if Blizzard DID make that mistake themselves.
