WoW Moviewatch: Lament of the Highborne Translation {WoW}

Jan 31st 2011 5:20PM Wow, I thought that I was the only one who didn't like this song.

I really can't put my finger on what I dislike about the song...I mean, I like all the Night Elf music, and don't mind the other Blood Elf music, but this song in particular just grates on me. It irritates me on some deep, primordial level, and yet everyone else seems to love it...it gets on all the compilations, Video Games Live gives it a special track on their latest album...

It's the "Eyes on Me" of WoW.

Officers' Quarters: Surviving as a small guild {WoW}

Dec 20th 2010 7:49PM I really don't mind the fact that, since my guild is smaller, we'll level slower than larger guilds. What irks me at times is that it just feels like, since the XP nerf, I can no longer make meaningful progress towards my guild's next level. Yeah, if I'm the only one to log on that night, I shouldn't hit the XP cap by myself, but I feel like I should be able to hit J and not have to squint at the XP bar for two minutes, trying to determine if it actually moved a pixel or not.

Know Your Lore: King Varian Wrynn, page 3 {WoW}

Nov 17th 2010 11:26PM Most indicators actually put Garrosh as being older than Thrall. He was definitely mentioned as being alive during the Alliance Expedition, as depicted in Beyond the Dark Portal.

BlizzCon 2010: The official BlizzCon store {WoW}

Oct 24th 2010 11:11AM So did the store sale for Virtual Ticket holders ever happen? I was checking all week for the expanded Blizzcon section and saw the same stuff every time.

And yeah, I was logged into the correct Battle.net account and all that good stuff.

Oct 5th 2010 9:48PM I would totally go for Brian Blessed as Deathwing.

Know Your Lore: Current Alliance politics -- the humans, part four {WoW}

Jul 3rd 2010 11:35PM Well, depending on which version of ICC is canonical, in the Alliance version at least he did successfully take and hold the Lower Spire, ultimately allowing the destruction of the Upper Spire by the Argent Crusade and the subsequent death of the Lich King. So he's got at least one major, recent victory under his belt.

And I think it's a little bit early to be speculating that the Gilneans disrespect Varian and Stormwind, or the Alliance as a whole. (Some spoilers in the rest of the paragraph, fair be warned) We haven't really seen them interact with anyone but the Night Elves yet, and since the whole business with the Scythe ends up being a druidy thing, of course you're going to see a lot of the only druidy race that was in the Alliance at the time. (Incidentally, how weird is it that the xenophobic-as-all-get-out-in-WC3 Night Elves end up being the sponsors for both the Draenei and the Worgen?) We also find out in Hyjal that the Worgen greatly respect Goldrinn...and we all know what name he and Varian share. It's not an automatic respect transfer thing, but seeing how Stormrage beat us over the head with the Varian/Lo'gash comparison...

Ultimately, I think Varian wants what's best for Anduin, his people, and the Alliance. The problem is that his life has been one of constant conflict. While he's certainly a good person to have as a leader during times of war (I'm reminded of Homer Simpson's "Men of cruelty" speech...), his real test will be if he'll be able to step aside and let people better suited to peace take the helm when the dust settles. Like the overprotective father he is, it may be difficult for Varian to let his "babies" go, even once they've outgrown him...

Jun 26th 2010 9:44PM What's always struck me about the comic is: You would think that Varian and Thrall would have been able to bond over their grotesquely huge shoulders, and even sillier pauldrons. Oh well.

Given how Papa Wolf Varian is, I hope that Anduin never suffers so much as a skinned knee at the hands of the Horde. The results would probably best be observed from the relative safety of Draenor.
