Apr 27th 2010 1:15AM Sounds like arena popularity will decrease a lot.
Personally I suck at arena, but I think it's one of the best things in WoW. It's nice to have even one place where skill means more than gear and the only thing you can blame for losing is yourself. I'm not saying PVE content or battlegrounds are easy, but arena is always the most difficult and non-scripted aspect of the game.
I like the new system, but I believe arena should still have unique rewards based on team rating. Maby something that isn't directly advantage over other players, but for example mounts and other cosmetic rewards.
May 16th 2009 9:20AM Could someone explain a bit about the available streams? Do you have to pay to get any kind of live video?
I don't have ppv available and if I was to pay for online stream, it should work perfectly. There was a lot of problems with some world wide invitational stream I watched (free stream), and it didn't even cover all the events properly. Also only got 1mbit dsl, so can't really watch it if it's too high quality or the connection isn't too great.
May 15th 2009 4:09PM I enjoy temporary content, but only the content I haven't seen before.
About every seasonal event has been there few times and it's almost the same every time. I think that's the point, but I find no fun doing the same quest, with same storyline with same speech on each npc for third time. Also all the cool seasonal stuff lose much of it's coolness when it comes available next year. I wouldn't mind having same kind of stuff, but the exact same stuff really takes away the last tiny bits of event's uniqueness.
The zombie invasion was great and I think it worked perfectly. While I don't find it fair to ruin new players leveling, it's perfectly ok if it's a rare case like that. It was the lauch event of new expansion, that doesn't happen every day. I loved the way the disease got mutated to be worse and at the very last days it took over the capitals. People were actually going to hard-to-reach places and grouping up to avoid the zombies. Just like in the movies :)
While so "extreme" events can't take place too often, I think blizzard should put up a lot more events. Even small random events. If anyone has ever played ultima online on the big private shards, the GM's put up fun events every day and I'm sure most think those were the best times in the game.
I would love to see something like this: A message appears in global chat "Something's happening in place x at yy:yy". Curious players would be there and blizzard sure has one GM to appear on every realm at that time. GM would for example set phasing mode for everybody around there and they could take part in epic battle as chickens against a huge wolf. I don't believe such thing would require much modifications to the game and players would sure enjoy it. It's something that could be easily done weekly, if not daily on the resources blizzard has.
While there could be some problems in those small random events, it wouldn't really matter. They would just need to make sure they can't have permanent effect on anything.
Also actual GMs appearing to speak to people and to create such events, could really create the feeling that blizzard is with us on this. Some GM accidentally killing the whole bunch of people and saying "oops" would be much more likely to be just fun and acceptable than many other minor things in wow.
May 15th 2009 4:40AM There's just one problem in your post. You are claiming rogues to be OP class, when they easily kill you if they have stacked tenacy. Can someone win you if you got 4x your hp with tenacy?
What if the rogue who gets you by surprise doesn't have tenacy? I think there is no way you couldn't survive from stuns of one rogue, at least if you got epic plate gear. Back in the days when there was no diminishing returns your "I just stare at my char being abused by OP rogue" argument would have been valid. After diminishing returns and pvp trinkets came, there has been no way to actually stunlock anyone to death.
May 15th 2009 1:16AM Not saying that engineering doesn't have anything cool at the moment, I think the Hand-Mounted Pyro Rocket is great. It's simply cool to shoot rockets out of your gloves and the range is nice, since there's no other way for me to reach that range as rogue.
The parachute enchant for cloak is great too, the thing I love about it is that it doesn't have a long cooldown, so I can about always fall from heights without having a problem.
Those are about the only cool things in wrath tho, since the nitro boots enchant is lame, why they couldn't keep the 300% boost of rocket boots :| Also mechano-hog is cool, but the fact it's not engineer only and you can't get the materials yourself (have to pay over 10000g) ruin it.
May 15th 2009 12:37AM Didn't actually see this one coming. While this should be a buff to rogues, I'm rogue myself and would rather have not seen this "buff". It's more of a nerf to engineering than anything.
I'm extremely casual player, don't have great gear or anything. Currently I'm using the engineering goggles and I think they are pretty nice. Stats are fine and the stealth detection is nice bonus for getting opener against other rogues.
However now if I want to have the same benefit, I need to go for less powerful gear. So in my case this "fix" for players "having to" go for less powerful gear, only made it worse.
While this isn't too major change, I wish engineering will get back to normal in future. When I picked it as profession many years ago, I didn't want to craft gear for stats or add armor enchants to gloves. I wanted cool gadgets to use in fights and that aspect has been almost completely destroyed since they don't allow about any, even low level engineering stuff in the arenas.
You don't force tailor to take off tailor-only clothes in the arena, or a blacksmith to swap weapon to something that's available to all professions.
Sep 29th 2008 10:36AM Simplification of items is a good thing. I like theorycrafting, but I believe it belongs in abilities and strategy rather than gear.
I actually wish that atleast for pvp the gear wouldn't matter as much as it does now, atleast not in the same way. (player with quest gear simply has no way to kill arena players).
They should create lots of different gear for different play-styles, but there shouldn't be good gear and bad gear for pvp. So it would be more about how you play than what you are wearing. This way a good players could jump in to arenas and make their way to the top without farming honor and getting in unfair battles agaist well geared people.
But again, I'm casual and most hc-pvp people wouldn't agree to this. Also this wouldn't work for pve, as there you need to make progress by taking down dungeons one by one and new gear kinda opens the way to the harder ones.
Sep 1st 2008 2:56PM Meh, you should mention in the post that it's for US only. ;)
