Gold Capped Ask an Auctioneer: My first mailbag {WoW}

Jul 22nd 2010 11:30AM @Ghost Dancer

You seem to think there is a right and wrong price that you know and others are screwing up. You've got it completely backwards. No one is ruining the market. They're just making a profit by moving their goods. Maybe they could maximize their profits better, but so could you. Either take advantage of them or find a more efficient way to make gold. You don't have any special right to make gold at the AH without facing competition.

Jul 22nd 2010 10:54AM If people are undercutting who cares? They're either undercutting at a reasonable rate (more power too them!) or undercutting too deeply which means free profit for me by buying their stacks and relisting them when demand is back up. There are soooo many different markets that if one is shut down by low demand, its easy to shift your investment into a market thats more profitable.

If your auctions don't sell, its not someone else's fault. Its your own. Evaluate better. We all make bad investments. The key to making gold/ money is to diversify into multiple markets and make more good decisions than bad ones. Stop peeing into the wind and start selling your urine to people who need it to pass drug screenings.

Blizzard to begin throttling GearScore-like inspect requests {WoW}

Jun 25th 2010 9:48AM I'd say it was more like

Manager: We need to look at ways to lighten the load on the servers, can you do an analysis on server activities and suggest some ways to reduce the load without affecting user experience.

Employee (later): it looks like we can throttle back inspect request response time significantly with minimal impact on common usage.
Manager:great, lets do it.

Totem Talk: Power Auras for restoration {WoW}

Jun 23rd 2010 2:38PM I'm largely with Jason. Its not the Power Auras isn't an awesome add-on, just that it doesn't seem very applicable to a resto shaman.

All of the things Joe mentions as utilities for it are things that my fingers do habitually without thought or attention (refreshing water shield), would not change my healing behavior in the slightest (ring and trinket procs), or are keybound in an easily visible place anyway (NS, tidal force, on-use trinkets). Adding power auras seems like it would be more distracting than helpful.

I can see maybe if your uptime for something wasn't as high as you wanted it, power auras might be a good set of training wheels to get you back up to speed, but for regular use? Its like using a GPS on your daily commute.

Jun 23rd 2010 2:03PM OPIE is the best keybind and space saving add-on ever. All the stuff you want at your fingertips when you need it, but don't want visibile in your UI becomes simple and elegant to access.

Totem Talk: A weapon in every healing hand? {WoW}

Jun 21st 2010 2:56PM If the design team intends for caster shamans to use dual wield, they'll just break it however they want. I'm all for exploring all possibilities to maxmimize my potential, but I don't see the point in speculating about a function that the design team has already declared they plan to keep non-viable.

Officers' Quarters: In defense of guild talents {WoW}

Jun 21st 2010 2:40PM I totally disagree with this article. As an officer in a large social guild, I am so glad that no one interested in one aspect of the game over another will miss out by remaining with the community they've chosen.
