Feb 17th 2009 6:05PM I've gotta /sign this. I felt the same way about Oculus. I spend 80 levels and countless hours getting my paladin where she is, and I'm really proud of her. I think I built a pretty damn good toon. Then I get into that fight and I might as well be a level 1 for all the good all that work has done me. Maybe that sounds a little whiny... maybe it IS a little whiny... but that's just the impression I'm left with.

Yeah sure, you're going to have a lot of people suddenly having the option to heal or tank if you press them into service. The question is, do you really want them to?
I, for example, am a diehard Ret Pally. Have been since well before the glory days. My second spec will be prot, because it's been kinda nifty to play around with and I like doing it as a change of pace every so often, but that doesn't make me a tank. When I tank, I don't feel like I know what I'm doing. I'm just mashing buttons and hoping everything works out ok. Am I really the person you want tanking your heroic for you? I doubt it.
So yeah, you're going to have people that have the option to tank or heal, but that doesn't mean you suddenly have an influx of tanks and healers. Just because you have the buttons doesn't mean you know how to use them.
Feb 15th 2009 2:40PM Some ideas:
Sporeggar and Timbermaw reps for Diplomat title
Cenarion Circle for the Guardian of Cenarius title
Argent Dawn for the Argent Champion title
Old world quests for Seeker and Loremaster
I know you said you're not so much into achievements, but those all lead to titles, and titles are fun.
Jan 31st 2009 1:07PM "It was good for the multiboxing community -- and bad for anti-multiboxing trolls"
...could you possibly have been more biased here? Way to name-call. Why not just drop the subtlety and come right out with it. "Everyone who disagrees with this is a baby-killing, terrorism-supporting douchebag!"
Jan 30th 2009 9:03AM Judging by the fact that I'm using 4 pieces of paladin tier 7.5... no, I don't take looks into concideration.
Jan 20th 2009 12:05PM This pre-BC raiding guild thing is a pretty good idea, in the same way that twinks are a good idea, or the guy leveling with 0 skill points is a good idea. It's just another way to play the game. Nothing wrong with that.
I do, however, begin to take issue when people who choose to play the game differently get on their soapbox and start preaching at us about how superior they are because of it. Great, you're raiding at 60, awesome. Good luck with that. You're not special.
Nov 25th 2008 12:05PM I think some of you guys (Mr. Holinsky and perhaps Ghostcrawler included) are overestimating the avoidance factor of defense rating. It's really NOT viable to stack defense rating in an effort to increase avoidance. It's just not efficient.
"At L70 you need 14.75 of defense rating to get 0.25% increases to each of miss/dodge/parry and block for a total increase in avoidance of 1%."
...and that's at level 70. The conversion rate is going to be even more abysmal at 80, whatever it is. The usefulness of defense rating just does NOT extend past reaching uncrittable status. Passing up any tanking stat (stam, parry, block, dodge, hit, expertise) for more defense beyond the required 540 just isn't smart gearing.
