Aug 28th 2009 9:38AM I'll probably roll a Worgen because I'm interested to see the starting experience, and I know many of my horde compatriots are considering doing the same, but none of us are actually planning on ~going~ alliance. It's partly due to the community of the horde on our server, partly due to the feel and theme of the horde, and partly due to the fact that alliance has gnomes.
Aug 28th 2009 9:32AM Me, too. Curious in a bad way. I really hope they don't turn Thrall into a bad guy...I absolutely love the balance between him and Garrosh, this conflict between "new" horde and "old" horde that seems to be a major theme throughout the game.
That said, maybe it was just a typo (i.e. maybe he meant Garrosh) or maybe there's some interesting story explaining why Thrall was acting in some kind of peculiar way. Only time will tell.
Aug 22nd 2009 12:39PM Thankfully there's still many months of testing before these changes go live. From the way it sounds, it doesn't seem like dodge/parry/block will be going away from items. Also, keep in mind that another point they made in their conversation about itemization was that they planned to make stamina less focused on plate-wearers....so plate DPS will no longer have tons more HP than, say, cloth DPS.
What this means is that unless they're making some huge changes to tanking that I really wouldn't like, there's no way in high holy hell that a tank would ever want to lace his main set with dps gear.
Aug 22nd 2009 12:31PM One thing they've also commented on is that a lot of boring talent abilities like the +25 defense will go byebye and be replaced with "Mastery", which automatically happens as you go higher up into a specific talent tree. So even if they were keeping defense, that talent would have been replaced with something far more interesting.
Aug 9th 2009 4:32PM My biggest issue is simply that 3.2 has made it impossible for me as a RL to get our 25-Ulduar runs up and running. When I used to have between 20-30 signups every week, suddenly I'm facing 10-15, and the reason seems to be simply that people don't see the value in facing off against a boss and wiping on him for an hour to learn the fight and get past him when you can just run through instances, get emblems of conquest, and get similar gear.
Not to say that everyone is gear obsessed, but every guild is going to have people who don't see the value in tackling new content when the loot is equal to what they can get just by grinding easy content until they're blue in the face, and for smaller guilds like mine that can be a death sentence to 25-man raiding.
Mar 19th 2009 10:59AM It really depends on the type of guild you're in. How hardcore are you? Our guild is fairly casual and as such we're a bit laid back about vent chatter. Obviously you don't talk over the RL if they're explaining something, but that's not a problem with vent chatter so much as it's a problem with common courtesy. Our vent rules are fairly simple. Unless it's the RL calling out something urgent, you don't interrupt if someone else is talking. And yes, during farm bosses we chat and crack jokes and talk about our days all the time. During progression bosses, well, everyone's usually too focused on the fight to talk about random stuff.
Feb 4th 2009 2:13AM Oh wow! I was actually interviewed for this guy's thesis a couple of months back. Seeing a post about him here makes me squee like crazy! :P
Jan 10th 2009 1:47PM Like some other commenters, I did frenzyheart then oracle. So I didn't vote 'cuz there really isn't an option for that. :P
Dec 24th 2008 4:55PM You should have opened a port for him to Silvermoon City or somesuch, and seen if he'd be dumb enough to take it. :P

It's amazing how much people like to point out the minutiae as if it's a huge deal. So she spells her name with a lowercase m? Big deal. It's not some hugely demeaning claim. She's not suddenly lumping herself in the same category as "person" or "car." It's just a preference. One I agree with? No, not really. One I see any reason to QQ about? Also no, not really.
That and insulting her for pointing out an ~incredibly~ valid point about online gamers. UGH!
Mandy, thanks for sharing. It was an interesting read.
