Nov 12th 2009 11:50AM "the sheer of content" :) I assume you meant you meant to have amount there :)
Jul 13th 2009 1:34PM Hey Scott appologies for the long comment :)
While I respect your opinion and reasons I have to say as a resto and balance Druid I totally (and utterly) disagree. I know your by far not the only one who thinks this way (and have faced some quite silly arguments about it, much sillier then yours) but the problem is with the current itemization you end up completly screwing over some groups trying to defend others which is why I think your "cut and dry" attitude about it is really pretty bad. In the end this is why there are systems like dkp so that if a pali wins an item over the shaman or a druid wins it over a mage then the next time something similar happens the mage or shaman is alot more likely to have enough points to beat out the other guy.
The biggest problem, as you point out, is itemization. While it's easy to say to change it so that everyone can get their BiS in their own armor slot it makes almost NO sense to do that. Take for example a balance druid. We have leather caster gear that is really quite nice now (compared to bc where it was horrible, the big problems we still have?
1. most of it is haste not crit (crit is much better for a boomkin)
2. other then tier NONE of it has hit.
Now, luckily, it isn't nearly as bad as it was in BC. However, if a boomkin wants to get up to the hit cap they are basically forced (by design in my opinion) to take some cloth. This is especially true if they do not want to have ever single trinket/ring slot trying to recoup the hit (which I'll admit I've done in the past).
We could of course say that to fix this Blizzard should just make sure there IS leather drops with hit. But do we really WANT drops that only one spec can use? We already have more leather caster gear being sharded then anything else because our druids geared up so fast and having alot of drops that only a few people can use we end up cluttering up the loot tables making it hard for everyone to get what they want.
In my opinion it looks like Blizzard has covered this issue by putting more cloth into the game, especially hit cloth. It seems we have started de'ing it reguarly now because no one needs it anymore. It doesn't make sense to have people automatically get thrown at the back of the line every time a lower armor class is a BiS (or even just a significant upgrade) and allow people who don't necessarily need it as much or deserve it as much get it. Who's to say how long it will be until the higher armor class person can get the item? Not only do they have to wait until it drops again (and we all know how long that can be sometimes) but they have to wait there isn't a lower armor class person who wants the item in the raid. Does it matter if it's the shamans off spec and the palidans main spec?
About your comment on the officers who shouldn't have to know what everyone's BiS is. No, they shouldn't have to know, and in many way's I hope they don't think they know because it's amazing how often people will try to bully others into getting an item THEY think is better when it isn't. In the end it has to be the players choice, if you can't trust them to make the decision? Then you shouldn't be raiding with them. This is why you have dkp like systems, someone gets items others want, the others now have a chance to win over them.
In the end it's obviously up to each guild but I know I will never raid with a guild that is going to place restrictions on what you can bid or roll for and I've left pugs for stupid people who try to put that restriction on others and will continue to do so.
Jul 3rd 2009 3:53PM In before cease and desist letter.
Jun 28th 2009 5:47PM I HATE the druid season gear, hate it with a passion just looks BLAH and ugly.
Jun 22nd 2009 5:59PM I disagree about the 3.2 date from this. I don't think there saying that at all (possible but I doubt it) I just think they aren't sure if they will remove it with 3.2 or wait for a while before they do that. In the end it will likely depend on how many people they think are going to get it, which at the moment is probably to low for what they want, so they want to hold back on a date.
May 30th 2009 1:17PM OMG I'm actually able to go! oh my lord I had lost hope!! I'm praying for everyone else! seems like a very lucky get in line thing I got in at 600 and was in within 3 minutes my friend who refreshed at same time is at 3000 now (got in at like 5500 with like 20% to go :(
weirdly there does not seem to be a way to change how many you order once you get in which I thought there was.. that probably helped me given I only needed 1, I'm not sure if that was there 2 weeks ago if it wasn't maybe that will help with the people buying multiple to scalp?
May 30th 2009 10:58AM no one for blizzcon tickets? really? you lucky bastards.....
May 16th 2009 1:28PM It really would be nice if we bought out the whole convention center.. or found a bigger one or whatever :( It's obvious that blizzard would sell out if they had 20000 tickets (I think the que got way over that today) When even the people who get in within the first 30 seconds or so can't get tickets it still seems people don't understand the popularity of the event. Yes yes I know I and everyone else will have another chance in 2 weeks to try and by tickets but i'm sure it'll be the same way :(
On the bright side the ticket selling system was definitely better this year.
