Jul 22nd 2010 11:36AM Are there a lot of new equipment models available in the beta? One of my biggest gripes with WotLK was that there were only 3-4 different models per slot per armor type for all questing and dungeon gear. So, as soon as any character started Northrend, it would be wearing pretty much the same armor from 68-80. It was really disappointing.
Jul 19th 2010 11:13AM The time-line is the only thing that gets me with Cata: players will go through Western and Eastern Plaguelands doing quests to "clean up the remains of the Scourge after the defeat of the Lich King." Then at 68, they go to Northrend where they do quests to...help defeat the Lich King. I can definitely see new players scratching their heads at that one.
Of course, I can't blame Blizz; there's no easy fix. The best solution I can think up is to make the "current" Northrend part of the Caverns of Time and make a "new" Northrend for Cata that is exactly the same, minus quests, hostile NPCs, etc. (So at 68, you're rushed off to CoT to help ensure the defeat of the LK for 8-10 levels.) And then tweak Outlands just enough to recon those events to have occurred after the cataclysm.
Jul 14th 2010 10:39AM I think it would be really neat if they made the chasm a void, like the edge of Outland.
Jul 8th 2010 11:20AM Thanks for the info, but I think a much simpler way to opt-out of RealID is cancel one's subscription. Already did it myself, it took only a few clicks!
Jul 6th 2010 4:34PM Unfortunately, I think Irem hit the nail on the head. In light of the new forum announcement, the current in-game restriction on RealID being between mutually-agreed friends seems like a mere testing of the waters for the system. I too am seriously worried that the next step will be to make RealID the primary method of identification in-game.
Feb 18th 2010 7:01PM "I wasn't around during the Isle of Quel'Danas, how did that play out for servers with large faction imbalances? "
Large groups of the dominant faction regularly formed parties that went around slaughtering any members of the opposing faction they found doing their dailies.
It's a blast for the dominant faction, but it's really hard to survive and get anything done if you're part of the smaller faction.
Jan 24th 2010 4:29PM It probably won't work every time, but if you get a tank that's anything like me, all it takes is a polite "can we do so-and-so boss?" to steer them to an optional boss.
Jan 12th 2010 8:16PM By far my biggest frustration in heroics is the apparent complete lack of understanding the /assist mechanic.
To all DPS everywhere, ever: ASSIST THE TANK. There is no way Swipe/Thunderclap/whatever is going to hold aggro against your focused fire.
