Toddy Smart Cloth: A stylish way to keep a smudge-free life {TUAW.com}

Sep 23rd 2011 11:56AM ... People have a desire to match their mood to an iPad cleaning cloth?

Skype calls not allowed over iPad 3G connections {TUAW.com}

Apr 30th 2010 5:50PM The Line2 app by Toktumi has allowed phone calls via VoIP-over-3G for months on 3.x firmware. So, I don't think it's a matter of VoIP restrictions existing on 3.x at the moment. It's more likely something else, like Skype being lazy, or Apple / AT&T asking them to hold off.

Line2 seems to work just fine on the iPad, too.

3G technology: Yesterday, today, and tomorrow {TUAW.com}

Apr 30th 2010 5:46PM There are a few mistakes or inaccuracies in this article. Robert, above, addressed some of them. I'll address the others:

(1) 100mbit is *not* approximately the speed of DSL. Very, very few DSL technologies can get anywhere near 100mbit, and in fact most DSL connections in the United States are closer to 10mbit than 100mbit. So, you're off by an order of magnitude.

(2) Same deal with "LAN". Most home LAN networks operate at 100mbit. Very few SoHo-style linksys/netgear/etc routers have built-in gigabit switches - they're almost all strictly 100mbit. This isn't to say some people don't have gigabit networks at home (I do, but I'm a geek), but your statement would be more accurate if it said 100mbit and not "1Gbps".

(3) Regarding the speed of "4G", you say "data speeds starting at 100Mbps" but that's actually the MAXIMUM speed for mobile devices (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/4g#Overview). Actual speeds will be much slower, especially in the beginning, as even given 100% signal strength, no mobile phone architecture available today (or likely within the next 6-12 months) has the internal I/O resources to push 100Mbps of traffic anyway.

A hands-on look at iStat Menus 3 {TUAW.com}

Apr 27th 2010 4:35PM @eric, the older iStat Menus has a bug that prevents it from detecting network activity on the newer Core i5 / Core i7 Apple machines. Depending on which model you have, it will either fail to detect traffic on the ethernet or Airport interfaces.

So, maybe you don't want to run the older version. Presumably this newer version fixed that bug, though I haven't tested it, as I switched back to Menu Meters which works perfectly fine and has the "Paging" indicator that iStat Menus still hasnt' added. It's probably the single most useful indicator I have.

Guide to Midsummer Fire Festival achievements part II {WoW}

Jun 23rd 2009 7:05PM Telling an Alliance to take the zeppelin from Ogrimmar is probably the single worst piece of advice WoW Insider ever gave anyone, ever. The NPCs have a knockback that kicks you off easily, every time.

Arcane Brilliance: Okay, now I like spirit {WoW}

Mar 28th 2009 6:00PM The damage of Living Bomb has not changed. Rank 3 was always 690. Look at the talent on live.

It's a mistake MMO-Champion made when they posted the new stuff.

WoW, Casually: Get thee to Brewfest! {WoW}

Sep 21st 2008 6:11PM You don't have to highlight a Dark Iron dwarf to throw the mug at him. Just face one and click the mug on your action bar and you'll hit them.
