Breakfast Topic: Should the girlfriend play WoW? {WoW}
Jan 8th 2009 8:47AM So, I thought I'd comment here as my wife and I both play, and started playing together when we were dating. It started with me picking up WoW, and playing it here and there. She'd watch me play or sit with me and read while I played. She asked questions here and there, but was otherwise not showing interest in it. Until I was at work one day, and she was at home alone and said, "I'm bored, maybe I'll see what he's enjoying so much." So she rolled a druid, and has played along with me for 3 years now. There have been ups and downs (we played on 1 account for a while.. i know against rules blah blah, so we had to fight over who got to play) but we stick together, and enjoy spending time together playing.
One thing I did learn is that you'll never really get that "questing together through to 80" experience unless you both have equal amounts of time on the game, or an extreme dedication to doing so. Best advice I can give is to let her learn as she goes. Don't give her too much advice on specs and gear unless she asks, and don't get too detailed on theorycrafting or anything of that sort (unless she's some math freak... hehe) or you'll scare her off. You know what her personality is like, find the niche in the game for her, and help her enjoy it. Whether she is a math freak or enjoys pretty outfits, find her niche and point her to it.
