This e-mail is about World of Warcraft account ******* recently reported as being compromised. Please note Blizzard is receiving a large number of compromised reports and it is taking upwards of 10 or more days to investigate and restore these accounts. We have already returned any missing characters and have provided your level 80 characters with the following:

• Most soulbound gear and weapons - an additional email will contain the actual items restored
• 2,500 gold for each level 80 - to offset any missing items and enable you to replace them
• 14 number of Emblem of Frost - to get you started with Patch 3.3 content
• 70 number of Emblem of Triumph - to make acquiring T9 or other items a bit easier

If this is from the same "veteran account administrator at Blizzard" source as your other blog post, you really should find a new source, or at least find someone to double-check with. I realize wow.com is a blog and not a news outlet, but it's a disservice to your readers not to have your facts checked. Something like "multiple sources within Blizzard confirms this" would be a nice gesture.

Jan 8th 2010 2:30PM Ummm, I have not clue who this "veteran account administrator at Blizzard" you guys get your info from, but he's wrong. They are restoring characters, then offering the care package to all level 80s on the account that were stripped. You have the choice of accepting the offer for all your stripped 80s, or rejecting it within 24 hours and you get put back in the queue. Here's part of the email they are sending out:

I'll bet it's closed for a few weeks/month until server first stuff is done, or Blizzard feels enough time has passed to keep people from skipping new content.

"Player X performed mining on Saronite deposit."
