Arcane Brilliance: Old mage armor sets and how to get them, part 2 {WoW}

Aug 30th 2011 6:59PM You only need the mageweave armour to look like a slut if you threw away your Deadly Borer Leggings!

Jun 28th 2011 11:30PM Crowd control change is just dumbing down, IMO. Any competent mage had his/her sheep target on focus, monitored 24/7 until dead. You can even recast sheep on a target behind your back, for heaven's sake! OK, having to catch someone else's sheep in raids sometimes added a bit of fun, but why take all the skill away?

Dec 13th 2010 3:38PM The best spellsteal ever might have been on the trash coming up to the egg boss in Zul'Aman. That gave you 400% spell speed AND movement speed.

Another nice one was from the mages at the start of Botanica. Only about 250 spell power, but it lasted for half an hour.

Mar 3rd 2010 4:23PM I'm a bit surprised that they are allowing an instant frostfire bolt from Brain Freeze. The reason being that surely this will be overpowered in PVP, because it's an instant slow (or root, if Frostbite procs).

I always assumed that that was, in fact, why they chose to have Fireball instead.

Arcane Brilliance: Mage leveling guide, the thrilling conclusion {WoW}

Feb 3rd 2010 10:14PM The apotheosis of Spellsteal was in Burning Crusade, when it came out. In Botanica, you could snag a +235 spellpower buff that lasted 30 minutes. And Spellsteal was an essential mechanic for mage tanking in the High King Maulgar Encounter in Gruul's Lair. It was also useful in other raid encounters, such as Romeo and Juliet, or some parts of Zul'Aman (cool spell there that only lasted a short time but gave you 4x movement and casting speed, and blue flames around you... you felt like the Blue Flash!).

It's kind of a pity that these days Blizzard have essentially ironed out the differences between classes. There are good things about that, but we have lost some things from the old days.

Feb 3rd 2010 9:36PM Frost remains very solid for levelling, low mana consumption, great AOE, you slow the mobs... and if they hit you, who cares? You have Ice Barrier!

Arcane Brilliance: How long will my gear last me? {WoW}

Sep 24th 2008 12:29PM Enchants will help those older items last as well - nobody will put expensive enchants on blue drops just to beat an old item slightly.
