Jan 15th 2007 2:06PM It has a nice Retro feel to it, although a slightly bigger screen would have made it a bit more attractive.
Jan 12th 2007 3:23PM Hey GioNYC, Why don't you drop the ol' "N" bomb while your at it. The "J" word ir just as bad a racial epithet.
I sort of like the look, but that interface and background is definitely trying to look like Apple's. The vertical scroll might not be as nice as the wheel, however, since you can't do a continuous scroll without lifting your thumb.
Jan 12th 2007 2:25PM Please let there be Ratt and Helloween.
There are a lot of people who like music from the 80's. Just because some people don't like the music doesn't mean it was bad, just like just because someone doesn't like the 90's music, doesn't mean thats bad either.
We're not going to start with the music fanboyism, are we?
Jan 11th 2007 11:21AM I used to have a flashcard for my GBA, which was great fun, but it died on me, and I havn't been able to convince myself to fork out the cash to get a new one. I love seeing what games/apps people can put together on their own.
Jan 10th 2007 9:31AM Regular rechargable batteries are probably more cost effective in the long run, but it would be nice to have a convenient base unit for charging and storage, and not having to worry about rotating batteries in the charger and wiimote. Of course, rechargable batteries might be easier to find and replace than the Nyko kit later on down the road should the batts degrade in performance.
Dec 29th 2006 8:31PM Thats a whole lot of consoles, but...
Magnavox Odyssey 300 FTW!
Boy do I love that yellow color. :D
Dec 28th 2006 3:08PM I grew up with Basic D&D, 1st Ed AD&D, Marvel, Life, and Clue. I also grew up with a TRS-80 CoCo and Pong. While I used to spend hours upon hours playing UO and WoW, I've as of late found myself way too busy to do any long term gaming. What I have found time for is a good analog game on the weekends (Arkham Horror, CoC-CCG, OOTS) and lots of short bursts with the DS or Wii during the week.
The DS and Wii VC games are excellent for those quick digital gaming fixes, especially the DS which can be played anytime anywhere. In fact the portable gaming does such a good job sating my digital gaming experience during the week, that my weekends have opened up more for analog gaming.
Dec 27th 2006 2:57PM I'm waiting on my replacement straps, but in the mean time, I made some high-speed field expedient replacement straps from some military 550 cord (parachute cord). A small knot of 550 cord makes up the tightening loop.
Using the insert strands for the thin part, and the full cord for the main strap results in a strap whose main body can hold 550 lbs, and whose thin part that can hold 30 lbs.
Dec 27th 2006 10:59AM I got my Wii on Black Friday, but every store in the area is out of nunchucks and wiimotes, and I've been checking and checking. :( There seems to be no shortage of those wiimote covers and stands.
I asked CompUSA about the Wii, and the answer I got was that they won't carry the Wii until they fix any controller issues. (ie: christmas trees, sunlight, etc)
Dec 27th 2006 10:23AM I got a nice trench coat, Chez Dork (game), and some Pirate CCG. Amazingly enough there were no video games or computer hardware this year for me.
Now to make that trip to the local game stores for some post xmas gifts for my Wii! :D
