WoW, Casually: What Patch 3.2 means for casuals {WoW}

Jun 25th 2009 1:59PM See, Blizzard has this cool thing called a business model. It's based on you paying them a fixed fee whether you play or not. So as far as they are concerned, you, the hard-core raider, are slightly more valuable to them because you give them all kinds of input on how the endgame should be designed, etc., but only slightly more so. Because Blizzard makes most of their money off the 95% (this is a guess) of us who don't raid all the time. And just because we are casual doesn't mean we don't like being casual in style. So while orange is best, we know we can't get it - but we at least want purple, and the purpler, the better.

Ghostcrawler on why Bluetrackers suck {WoW}

Jun 24th 2009 9:38PM I think the community has gotten spoilt, to a certain extent, by GC. I am open to correction here, but I don't think we were getting the kind of insights into Blizz's thinking that we are now, until GC became the lead designer.

I am willing to wade through some useless stuff to get to the meat.

Patch 3.2 PTR: New Heirloom Items Gallery {WoW}

Jun 24th 2009 11:10AM Does anyone know if the plate items work as mail pre-40?

Similarly, could I buy my hunter or shammy a mail chest and have it work as leather for the first 40 levels?

Upcoming mount changes {WoW}

Jun 16th 2009 11:12AM I wonder if they will reduce the cost of the warlock Dreadsteed quest. My lock just hit 60, and I want to do the quest, as a rite of passage. While it also gives the Riding skill, it costs a few hundred gold to do ... compared to just buying the Riding skill and mount, for under a 100g after 3.2 ...

Ask a Beta Tester: This and that {WoW}

Oct 23rd 2008 12:58PM Just to confirm - you cannot leave the starting area as a DK until you finish all the starting quests. You can start riding around EPL, but soon you come up against an invisible wall, kinda like when you are trying to fly over BT.

Quested mounts and forms to be trainable in Patch 3.0.3 {WoW}

Oct 22nd 2008 12:01AM I am a casual player, not a raider, and getting the Swift Flight form was the culmination of my druid experience.

And Blizz had to make you go into one of the crappier dungeons in BC to get it, so getting PUGs to help was no easy task - I remember LFGing on a night when Sethekk Halls was the daily heroic, and I still had trouble getting a PUG. The fight with Anzu made up for all of that - pure adrenaline rush.

Once I got my Swift Flight, everything else felt flat - what was there after all, other than dailies and leveling alts?

I am a little saddened - I do think that the days when you can start all new chars at Level 50ish (assuming you meet some conditions, like having at least one Level 80) are not far from us.

Quested mounts and forms to be trainable in Patch 3.0.3 {WoW}

Oct 21st 2008 11:55PM I think you will still need to pay the 5K ... just not do the quest. All the pain without any of the fun.

Resurrection etiquette {WoW}

Sep 26th 2008 4:13PM The only time I prefer not to run is if I don't know the dungeon geography well and we have skipped parts of the dungeon - I'd rather not get lost and end up aggroing mobs in parts that might have been skipped, die, and then hold every one up even more.

In such situations, I explain my point of view, and have never had any issues.
