Apr 18th 2011 6:20AM Couldnt agree more. I leveled a boomkin from scratch after 4.0.6, used the good ol' LFD an awful lot, and my DPS never, ever got comparable scores to other DPS's at the same level. Not even close. It was very painful.
Now I'm 85, gunning through Heroics, and with better gear, I'm starting to see DPS that matters, but I very nearly gave up and switched to feral while leveling.
Mar 12th 2011 2:59PM I see your logic there, however, my druid only just dinged 81. So no shrooms yet. Versus insect swarm/moonfire as far as overall DPS goes, Typhoon doesnt come close.
Unglyphed typhoon might be useful in some encounters, but while I'm still pugging through 5-mans, I havent seen it yet.
Plus I love finishing off an AoE group with what looks like a giant sneeze!
Sounds like I'll have to tweak my playstyle though when I get to that other game, World of Endgame, which is really the beginning.
Mar 11th 2011 4:21PM I use typhoon, a lot. Glyphed though to remove the knockback, which reduces its usefulness in PvP, but makes it quite useful in PvE.
Mar 8th 2011 5:45PM Kind of a good change to swipe, though a little too late for me personally. My 77 druid gave up on tanking, holding threat was a nightmare, and god forbid the pug ended up with a trigger happy mage. I'm sticking to boomkin till 81, then i'll see how tanking with thrash goes.
As a side note, I've run through something like a 150+ instances with pugs on with my druid, and yesterday, for the first time I can remember, I saw another druid tank. It was nice to see, but surprise surprise, he had trouble with threat. Poor guy.
Mar 6th 2011 4:36PM @ZW I think you suffer from the "the game really starts at 85" syndrome. Some of us don't get to sink in the massive amounts of time required for end game awesomeness. Some of us just enjoy leveling characters through the game as it is, and thats the game, it's not a race to 85 and then you can start playing. The journey IS the game for some.
But you have a point about the 12 year old brats. I was in a PUG where a DPS char told the tank he was a n00b for not kicking my feral druid friend because his DPS was too low. Not that it mattered because we were downing mobs, and no-one was dying. So we kicked him, after telling him that DPS isn't everything.
Mar 5th 2011 12:40AM As a casual player, returning to the game after a couple of years break, and deciding to level a boomkin, It breaks my heart. My DPS in dungeons is adequate, but never amazing. Now it will be slightly less again. It kinda just makes me lose momentum really.
Maybe at end level boomkins kick ass, but I wouldnt know, I'm only 74. It's sad that the impact of end game balance has to affect all those players, that you know, like to level characters through the game and just enjoy that journey.
