Mar 27th 2012 10:45PM Not to be a troll, but GC opens his post referencing "show-don't tell" and then gives us a thousand words on the system. In the age of a million and one livestreams of people doing the exact same quests on the beta, the Blizzard team couldn't cobble together a multiple viewpoints video from one of their F&F raids, add some voiceover work, and demonstrate this system in action?

That said, they should think about their implementation of how players receive their items. Even if the items end up going to other people, looting is a tangible result to downing a boss. But it'd be disheartening if the boss dies and then everyone stands around and ends up getting nothing because of mystery behind the scenes math. There's gotta be a bag or a chest or something to open, and inside, bit of gold and the item you've won (or not).

Mar 22nd 2012 7:46PM Sorry but something about her face - the snout I guess - makes her seem too rodent-like. At certain angles and coupled with her big round ears, I can't help but see Minnie Mouse, or one of the CGI Chippettes. Maybe they could broaden her snout a bit? I don't know.

Dec 7th 2011 9:05PM Hmmm raid cooldowns are back. I thought they were moving away from those...

Hoping for more changes to War Banner. Aside from the raid-wide Reck, it's just a macro that lets you choose between Challenging Shout and Demo Shout.

I like the mechanical change to Shield Block but it points to a return to the BC era where we hit that damn thing on every cooldown.

Stormbolt is sick as Dwarf warriors will be able to RP a Mountain King to perfection, and Deadly Calm is now really good. Hooray!

Nov 27th 2011 6:27AM Not a fan of how they're setting up active tanking. Prot warriors will just attempt to get 100% uptime on Last Stand, and then depend on that huge health buffer + CTC to stay alive. I expect once Monk skills are public and we see how the Brewmaster fits into the game, we'll get a better idea of what to expect from tanking in MoP.

I'm unsure why CS is a rage dump if Sudden Death can proc at anytime. This will lead to a lot of rage banking, where everything but MS is off cooldown but warriors aren't using any skills because they need 80 rage.

But overall, I'm supportive of the big talent shift. Especially for Arms (and other traditional PVP-only specs), as this means Blizzard has no more excuses to not buff them for PVE if PVP viability lies mainly in the talents.

Nov 23rd 2011 10:25AM I don't like being publicly negative about WoW as that's taken care of by the forums, but this talent/ skill calc is just badly done. So many typos, so many missing skills. If this was all datamined I could understand, but freaking Prot Warrior's don't have Vengeance showing up as a skill - c'mon son!

Master prop-maker Volpin builds Thrall's Doomhammer {WoW}

Nov 22nd 2011 10:09PM According to the post on his site, Volpin built the hammer head out of cut styrene sheets and pvc foam board, so it's hollow, making the heaviest part of the hammer the wood handle. He states that all in all, it's around 8.5 pounds. For comparison's sake the Epic Weapons LARP version of the Doomhammer weighs 3 pounds, and their upcoming steel replica weighs 18 pounds.

Nov 9th 2011 9:04PM Epic Q&A is epic. They have to take this format to the Live Blizzcon Q&As - by that I mean heavily moderated with security on standby to remove anyone who even begins to say "noggenfogger."
Anyway, my pressing questions on arms warriors and the future tanking paradigm (we keep Blood and Thunder, zerk stance is being further differentiated from arms) were pretty well answered and I'm excited in seeing what's to come.
Of greatest interest to me was Celestalon's response on how they're considering making Shield Slam a rage generator, and Shield Block the prot war's go-to active mitigation skill with no cooldown. Pretty sure Rossi wrote about this in a past Care & Feeding, so he's either gotten really good at thinking like a dev or they read his column and find his ideas ripe for inclusion into the game. I anticipate his immortalization in the flavor text of an epic 2hander...

First Mists of Pandaria developer chat Thursday {WoW}

Oct 26th 2011 10:18PM Someone ask if they think about future-proofing the talents or have they accepted that they'll be reworking talents per expansion from now on. A lot of WI's columnists speculated that the Cata trees had to be changed because they wouldn't work once we levelled up and received 5 new points, and lo, change has appeared on the horizon. But the new talent system will hit a similar roadblock given that it's based around new skills every 15 levels, exactly to 90.
