Mists of Pandaria: Cool class stuff we found {WoW}

Mar 19th 2012 2:16PM The Shaman ones are not glyphs, they're talents. If you're not a Shaman you might not have been aware that with the last talent reveal the entire bottom set of talents (the ones you get at 90) were "coming soon", so Sacco was giving a quick run down of what they were. So the perma pets will be pretty optional as they'll be based on doing the same damage as the cone spell or super unleash elements.

It'll be interesting to see how perma pets will help resto, since all talents are meant to be good for all trees.

Breakfast Topic: What is your class theme song? {WoW}

Feb 14th 2012 9:40AM Sure, anything by Earth Wind and Fire does work, but I think the best song for them would be "Thunderstruck" by AC/DC

WoW Insider is looking for a warlock columnist {WoW}

Feb 7th 2012 1:12PM So another Warlock columnist has gone missing. I can't be the only one thinking "Where was Christian Belt at the time and does he have any witnesses to back him up?"

The Queue: Superb Owl {WoW}

Feb 5th 2012 2:43PM Yeah, but it's gaming the system in a different way and it might make more sense for why Blizz did it, because that behavior (which was fairly rampant, at least in my experience) is much worse that merely trying to get some CtA reward undeservedly (since the first gets innocent people kicked out of dungeons for no good reason and makes queues longer for everyone else due to queue hopping, whereas the second would be largely harmless)

I didn't mean to imply they weren't gaming the system, just pointing out what they were actually doing.

The Queue: Superb Owl {WoW}

Feb 5th 2012 1:08PM "Why are we no longer allowed to requeue as a different role when someone leaves the party while using the dungeon finder?

It's to prevent gaming the system, basically; you could feasibly receive a CtA reward at the end of a dungeon for a role you didn't really fill. Not 100% sure I agree with it, mind you, but I'd be willing to bet that's the reasoning behind the change."

I thought the change was to stop people abusing role changes to get instant queues. I.e. A tanking class with two friends queues up using the instant tank queue, they get in, immediately kick the third DPS and the tank requeues as DPS. Now they're at the front of the line with a usually 2-4 minute wait on a real tank instead of the 20min+ wait they would have gotten as 3 DPS.

Encrypted Text: My ganking toolbox {WoW}

Feb 1st 2012 11:13AM You have to remember these are tips for gankers, not just random pvp encounters. Presumably a Rogue engaging in this activity will be kitted out in the best of the best PVP gear, whereas most of their prey will either not be as well geared or in PVE gear to burn down the mobs quicker. Therefore losing the head and belt slot won't be too bad since their resilience will be much higher, they will be fully buffed and they will be expecting combat.

I mean seriously, most people don't even keep a pvp trinket equipped when they go questing/farming/etc.

Would removing legendaries be a benefit for the World of Warcraft? {WoW}

Jan 27th 2012 4:25PM I'm not sure about removing them from PVE but it's always struck me as odd that they can be used in competitive PVP where their significant power really do just cause problems (and the horrible concept that the best PVP weapons require heavy amounts of PVE).

So I'd definitely make them unusable in rateds and arenas (or at least disable their procs).

Optional boss modes making a comeback in Mists of Pandaria? {WoW}

Jan 26th 2012 5:25PM On the subject of 'long raids' and everything one thing I'm very disappointed didn't pan out in cata that Blizz said they would do is having multiple raids per tier. For one thing multiple raids alleviates that problem of reaching the end boss taking a whole reset (since if you so desire you can focus on a progression kill of the smaller raid's end boss) but I think it just adds much needed variety to raiding. Getting stuck in one place week in, week out gets very repetitive, firelands being a particularly notable example where a raider could go months without seeing any colours other than browns/oranges/reds and yellows.

One thing I would quite like Blizzard to consider is that each subsequent raid does not have to be a tier higher, talking about why so few saw Yogg and Algalon one major reason has to be that the content was only out for a little over 3.5 months before they released TOC with gear that made Ulduar irrelevant. If TOC had had the same ilvl gear as Ulduar I think the raid would have gone down a lot better with players since it would have offered them choice, a total of 19 bosses instead of 5.

As long as they signposted it well enough I think it would go down well (i.e. we're starting with a 6 boss raid in this tier, expect a 3 boss raid in a couple months) and would allow more frequent content without making older content immediately irrelevant or making casual raiding guilds feel too pressured to 'keep up'

Breakfast Topic: Spill your 5-man PUG stories here {WoW}

Jan 26th 2012 11:59AM @TonyKP

Personally I think Blizz were in a bit of a 'damned if they do, damned if they don't' situation with Cata. At some point I just don't think it's possible to keep such diverse groups of players as the casuals and the hardcore playing together, they somewhat managed it in Wrath by delivering casual content whilst promising to make things hard again in cata but that couldn't last forever.

I think either way, if Cata had continued in the same vein of Wrath or gotten hard as it did they would have lost players.

Profanity filters, homophobic slurs, and Blizzard's shaky relationship with the LGBT community {WoW}

Jan 25th 2012 9:56AM There was an amusing story a while ago about two drunken yobs who attacked a pair of cross-dressers, unfortunately for the yobs the cross-dressers in question were professional cage fighters out on a stag do, who proceeded to mop the floor with the yobs in a matter of seconds.
